Another great weekend, filled with Helen Cornelius music!
The weekend started in Benton, KY at the Kentucky Opry. Helen and
Jim Ed performed with the KY Opry band, as well as 3 of Jim Ed's
band (drums, lead guitar and keyboard) he brought with him. Despite
problems with the sound, the backup singers, the bass player (who
seemed to never be on the right chart) and Jim Ed's voice, the show
was great! :o)
Here is the song list, in no particular order... I never seem to
make a list until the second show!
Helen's set:
Someday Soon
I'm Not Lisa
Long Gone Lonesome Blues
(I really think she may have done a fourth number, but if she did I
can't remember the name)
Jim Ed's set:
(notice he has WAY more songs... what's wrong with THAT!?)
Southern Lovin'
Pop-A-Top
The Three Bells
Morning
The Browns Medley
(and I think a couple more)
Helen and JEB set:
Don't Bother to Knock
Fools
Morning Comes too Early
I Don't Want to Have to Marry You
Who's in the Mood (which Jim Ed says has been sent to ALL the
country stations now)
Rockin' Years
Have I Told You Lately That I Love You
You Don't Bring Me Flowers
Lyin' in Love
I met Kenneth, who books shows for Helen and JEB. Had a nice visit
with him, discussing REAL country music! I have added a link to
Reynolds Entertainment Group in the links section. Pass it on to
all your promoter friends out there!!! Let's help get Helen all the
shows she deserves!
Also got to meet one of Helen's dear sweet friends! (and if you are
reading this, thanks for my facial and you'd better email me! lol)
We drove from Benton to Lebanon Junction on Sunday morning. Wow,
what a great place! The musicians were absolutely wonderful, as
were the vocalists. They were just darn nice people!
The Oak Ridge Boys were doing a FREE show in Louisville at the same
time as Helen's show, so... needless to say, that did hurt ticket
sales. Never-the-less, they are already talking about having Helen
back! (so was the KY Opry)
So, here is Helen's set list from Sunday's show... IN ORDER!
Walkin' After Midnight
Someday Soon
Somewhere Between
Long Gone Lonesome Blues
these she did with Rick Ed...
Morning Comes Too Early
Fools
Leaving it All Up to You (impromtu-they just did a chorus of this
one)
Marry You
back to Helen, at the piano...
I'm Not Lisa
The Rose (HUGE standing ovation!)
back to center stage...
Just a Closer Walk with Thee
Lyin' in Love with You
Blue Bayou
ENCORE
Make the World Go Away (audience request)
You Don't Bring Me Flowers
If any of you are near Lebanon Junction, I highly encourage you to
make every effort to get there the next time they have Helen! I
highly encourage you to get there even when Helen is not there!
They are a great group of folks!
I've posted some pictures in the KY shows album. I did not get any
pics of the show with Jim Ed. The way the seating was set up, I
would have had to stand in front of people who were seated to get
any pictures, and I think that is rude. They had a different set up
in Lebanon Junction, and I could stand against the side wall to get
pics. The lighting was great for the show, but bad for pictures.
So, the pics are rather dark...
Smiles!
Susan :o)
Doesn't look like Helen will be up my way again this year. But, if
she passes your way... enjoy!
