Hello all! I just joined and look forward to appreciating John Williams' work
more by talking with other fans of his work.
Speaking of.... Richard Donner's Superman: The Movie, in my opinion, really
made you believe a man could fly. I think that was 75% thanks to Christopher
Reeve's "flying" job, and the rest was 75% John Williams' theme(s). I don't
know if it's because I think of the movie but when I hear the music, especially
the main title theme, somebody somewhere is flying! He did such a wonderful job
that I think of flying when I hear it.
When I saw Superman Returns and saw the opening credits with that unmistakable
theme and all of the other elements of William's score incorporated into John
Ottman's score, I couldn't help but smile; and maybe a little embarrassed to say
brought a bit of a tear to my eye out of appreciation. My hat is off to Ottman
for bringing so many elements and pieces into his soundtrack.
But this is probably enough of my rambling, especially for my first post, so
I'll hand it over to everyone else. For those who have seen Superman Returns,
or have heard the soundtrack, what do you think of John Ottman's score?
Brandon
