I 'm not sure if Berveiller was a pupul of Dupre. I
may have been dreaming too but Demessieux and he were
linked with Dupre. I'll check on that after my recital
this week.
Berveiller's organ writing is very similar to the
piano 'voicing' of jazz: 10ths in the LH and 12 bar
structures. I have a strong inkling he wanted 'srtide
organ' and a 'Big Band' sound as the advent of Big
Band seems to be a significant influence on his style.
He was experimenting with this style and maybe gave up
because of the medium's technical restrictions or the
churchs' restrictions on such flamboyance.
I will try and find somr information and I do have a
picture of him but no source detail.
