New Seekers news update June 30th 2009
Hello everyone
A lot of you have asked me recently about the article which I mentioned a while
back called `My Favourite Photograph' for the Sunday Express. Well, it's an
interview which Paul has done for the Express magazine based around a photo of
the group from 1976. The article we had hoped would be published this weekend
coming or the one after but it has been delayed and now will be featured in
August.
Many of you have placed your orders for `It's Been Too Long' which is released
on July 13th. I really do look forward to hearing your views on the 6 new
recordings. The group will be performing 3 of the tracks on Aled Jones show on
BBC radio 2 a week on Sunday, the 12th. Teach the World, Circles and Hallelujah
Medley ( shortened version ) are planned along with an interview with the group.
Despite the early start we are all looking forward to the show. There seems to
be some conflicting dates relating to the release of the double album from 7T's.
It is scheduled for July 20th but this is subject to change. I have received
some odd questions relating to some of the songs, the main one being does Peter
Oliver appear on the MPD ones? Not sure where this has come from but no its
Marty, Paul and Danny with a slight clue being present in the group's name? I
never knew there was any doubt over who the other guy was singing with Paul and
Marty and as far as I know it's definitely Danny! There were some other songs
recorded by the group whilst at RCA but sadly these were not kept in the best
condition and unfortunately the quality has deteriorated. These included the
original recording of Love of My Life. I mentioned Fairytale in my last letter
and if I gave the impression that I thought that it wasn't worth having I
apologise although I really don't think that I said that at all. I meant that it
isn't the best ever NS recording and whilst Eve gives her usual great vocal it
isn't her best ,which is probably why the song was never included on the
Together Again album. It really is worth looking forward to I promise, although
for me, the best feature of these albums is having the 3 missing A sides on a
proper release at last.
Another classic New Seekers album is planned for an autumn availability so news
on that as soon as I have details.
Looking forward to seeing some of you at Torquay this Friday and of course I
will smugly be home in 20 minutes!! Nicola Kerr is planning to come along and
relive her days as a New Seeker! And the weekend of the radio show we have
Dunstable(10th) and Folkestone(11th). On Friday 10th Paul and myself will be at
a BBC radio studio where Paul will be recording a whole series of local
interviews. Some of them will be live and others to be pre recorded.
Good to see some new clips on Youtube which include The Seeker and It's So Nice
from Wheeltapers and Shunters, Eve and Danny performing their medley from The
Wiz and some clips of Lyn. Mags has also brought to my attention that some clips
of Wishful Thinking have been added,,...America and a fabulous version of
Hiroshima and some excellent pictures. The Yahoo NS chat site which Mags
mentions this on is seldom used which is such a pity. With so much NS knowledge
between us, stories and memories to share why don't we all consider posting
comments more often. I know a few of you do on Eves site with so many stories
and interesting tit bits coming from Trevor, Mary, Eden, Mags, Kevin etc so
maybe share your memories on the Yahoo NS site which I promise not to dominate
with news of NS today!!!! Perhaps suggest a few topics and lets get the messages
flowing?
The advert for the new album was sent to me yesterday and it's really great!
There are 5 song clips involved with a fabulous summer theme running through the
30 second commercial. It's very colourful and striking and I can't wait to see
its first showing. The voice over is being recorded tomorrow by a very
recognisable voice.
Speak soon
