Ok, so I flew down to Dallas for the show last night and, man, am I glad I did.
The show was awesome, to say the very least. The guys kept saying they were
rusty, but you certainly couldn't tell. The crowd was great to them too. It
seemed like everyone there was there just to see Oleander. The setlist list
was:
Don't Break My Fall
Unwind
Stupid
Get It (Ric's personal favorite of the new songs)
Lost Cause
I Walk Alone (with instrumental intro)
Hands Off the Wheel
Rainy Day
Come to Stay (which, I think, Tom intro'ed as being off February Son...silly
boy)
King of Good Intentions
Why I'm Here
Down When I'm Loaded
Where Were You Then
Are You There?
The new songs sounded great! A lot more rockin' and kind of heavier for
Oleander. For those of you keeping track, "Rainy Day" is the slower part of
"Sorry To Say". "Sorry To Say" was basically cut in half and the heavier part
will be used for another song that won't be titled "Sorry To Say." Also, the
guys are looking at having the album out after the first of the year. There's
no way they can finish it in time for an Oct/Nov release, so it's going to wait
until the new year. Also, "Runaway Train" will be on the new album. The guys
seem excited to be back on the road, even though this time it's only for 3 days.
They'll be heading out with Nickelback for two weeks beginning at the end of
October (the 27th, I think is what Doug told me) starting in Denver, CO and
going east. They're not sure of any tour plans after that, but you never know.
Anyway, I think that's it. I definitely can't wait to hear the new album after
getting a preview of some of the new stuff!
