Free Hiphop Journalism Summer Workshop
Due to the tremendous response we have received from the public, we
are once
again inviting young people between the ages of 12 to 16 years to
participate in a four week hip hop journalism workshop, the Corner
Pocket
Magazine Program (CPM). This is a free, four class workshop held on
Saturdays at the University of Missouri St. Louis starting July 9th
to July
30th. The workshops are presented by Urban Artist Alliance for Child
Development, Inc (UAACD), with financial support from the Missouri
Arts
Council and the Regional Arts Commission, as well as promotional
support
from First Civilizations.
CPM is a UAACD after school program supported in part by Regional Arts
Commission, Missouri Arts Counsel, and Boeing Employee Community
Fund. UAACD
is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit corporation formed for the purpose but not
limited
to the promotion of the arts, education, economics, and social
services. The
mission of UAACD is to enhance the social and cultural well being of
young
people through art based programs. UAACD was founded on August 15,
2001 and
received its 501 (c) (3) tax exempt status on January 27th, 2002.
Students will meet on Saturday mornings from 10 am to 1 pm at the
University
of Missouri-St. Louis beginning July 9th. UAACD will provide a
continental
breakfast for students. Students can expect to engage in a multimedia
lecture, editorial sessions, research, article preparation and
writing.
UAACD will supply the students with a notebook, paper, pencil, and
computer
access as made available by UM-St. Louis. A tentative schedule and a
syllabus will be provided.
