As far as most of us (meaning a couple friends) are
concerned, the 'mats SNL spotlight has been and will be the
yardstick by which "cool" will be measured. A bible. You
disagree? Fuck you.
They somehow had their shit together enough to "rock" and
displayed all the "aw shucks, I just got all drunk and didn't even
know it " personality that we all emulated or were envious of.
Too young to be present at the Longhorn, too busy pestering
the Posies to play "Women's Prison" while our beloved 'mats
limped along, I dunno, Scott McCaughey still rocks, I s'pose.
Alex Chilton is also very "foxy" and occasionally is a box top.
I elect to drink Jim Beam and cokes and then cry my little
eyes out. I might even watch the 'Mats on "The Cutting Edge",
just post-Bob, when they looked so goddamned blue-collared
and cool. They wore white T-shirts for some reason. I tried to
ask Slim about this, but didn't really get an answer.
