hello people,
it's been a week after my big carimakan job postponed to october and so
it's been a week of juggling the list of bands to play unlogged
merdeka. it's not easy. the list has been building up ever since i
announced the date before i head off to australia and add to that the
bands/acts I have to cut out from the last unclogged roster. nearly had
my hair shaved by the math.
anyway, with severe apologies to the bands unincluded this time, some
of them more than once too (sorry!); here's the final yet still
tentative list of bands to play at unclogged merdeka:
Unclogged Merdeka @ No Black Tie, KL

it's finished.

Bands: Color My Iris, JellyBelly, Nyiblorong, Pusher, Man Under Zero
Effort, Kuchalana & a jam session by a mystery band.

7.30 or 8pm to 9pm
Night Session: starts 9.30pm and will go on until the last band on the
list played.
Bands: Lurks, Free Love, Azmyl Yunor, Kenanga Oren, Moods, [a yet
unnamed band] & Stone Revivals
Supper Session: Jam session, whoever wanna muck about is invited to do
so after the last band played. Inform me earlier on.
okay. i hope i haven't left out anybody who are supposed to play!
anyway the list is tentative as Color My Iris, JellyBelly, Nyiblorong,
Lurks and that unnamed band are still UNCONFIRMED because they don't
know it yet! If there's any member of the bands mentioned reading this,
write and tell me whether your act can play or not. I need confirmation
ASAP and there are several bands in waiting to sambar the slot.
BANDS INVOLVED, PLEASE READ:
Rules: Yup, there's a list of rules for the bands or acts...
1. Bring your own hand instruments including cables, pedals and yes,
guitar straps (oh, brother...) and hairpsray, if so needed. If you
don't have them, start sourcing out from your rakan taulan now. Those
who tend to be way over the top and break strings, get a spare guitar
or arrange for one from the other bands way before you play.
2. Each band/act ONLY got 20 to 25 minutes on stage. So start working
with a set-list to fit the 20 to 25 minutes. Please refrain from
playing MORE than that as the fate of other bands/acts playing their
full set is on your shoulder. Don't be selfish, please. It's bad karma,
brader.
3. Each band/act can bring in ONLY 2 friends for free. If you have
money, please refrain from getting in for free as the money you pay
will be shared and go equally to all the bands and people involved, not
to some cekik darah club owner dari planet biru.
4. Please tune up your instruments way before going up the stage. No
toing-toing-ing on stage. I'll bring my tuner so you can use it if so
needed.
5. Get a bit of money to offset your rehearsal cost by selling your
t-shirts or CD-Rs or other products at the show. So plan for that now.
Remember, most of the time, it's not the price which would make people
buy your merchandise, it's the quality and exquisite "taste" in
preparing your product.
6. If you have special requests or unique characteristics (!) about
your band – your drummer is left-handed and always need to change the
position of the toms for example or if you normally use weird
solar-powered synthesizers etc. please inform me ASAP so we can plan
ahead.
7. Start jogging, have multi-vitamins in your diet, sleep early and
prepare to have a great time. All smiles on the day please, this is NOT
a goth gig! As usual, only emo bands excluded from this rule.
On me and No Black Tie's part; we have a drum set, bass and guitar
amps, mikes etc. i will check if we need extra amps or cymbals, snare
etc. and prepare the stage. If you have good, capable amps, do tell.
maybe we can hire from you.
The period time for soundcheck will be announced soon.
As you may have known, almost all of Unclogged shows were recorded
straight from the mixer and sometimes video-ed. One of these days (must
buy lottery tomorrow) we'll have comps of the audio and footages out to
shock your parents. Those who have video-cams, do bring 'em in.
I think that's it for now. The flyer is in the process. A detailed
mail-out about the bands playing will be sent to you very soon. and
hopefully I'll be able to finish up the RiceCooker Radio zine & CD-R
when the day arrived.
now, do have a lovely sunday, cheers!
Joe
p/s: shall we have somebody sell kerepok lekor outside while the show's
on? punk rock and kerepok lekor! yes! yes! yes!
