hello again good people,

as you may have heard, No Black Tie is closing down at the end of the
month. the venue has been an important outlet for live music in KL,
unlike many other live venues around, NBT has opened its doors to all
sort of musical pursuits. after all, good music is good music and NBT
didn't care whether you were playing screamo-grindcore or a bleeping
laptop. I have seen and experienced a hell lot of music in that
acoustically-excellent wood-paneled room; right from Pucho & His Latin
Soul Brothers (all the way from Harlem, NY) to Rai Ko Ris (all the way
from Kathmandu) to the Thousand Years of Liquor and Death (from Cheras
and Klang) to my friend Abrokol (all the way from Kg. Tanjung, KT)
jamming with Man Bai the ex-rockstar! There was a time when anybody can
just go on stage and play, no matter who the #$@* you are. One night I
went up and play the bass while Yandsen (Moxuan/Ta) grabbed a guitar
and when we turned around it was the great Lewis Pragasam banging the
drums! I don't need to go on more, a lot of us had a lot of fun in
there, so we have decided to have one hell of a farewell party for NBT.

we have two dates to do it. the first night is on Wednesday 21st
January, which will be organised (or "curated") by Azmyl Yunor. At the
moment, I'm not sure what his plans are for the night but it will be
announced here soon enough. the other date we have is Saturday 24th
January, so here's our plan:

unclogged presents

Die Young, Stay Pretty: NBT Farewell Party & A Benefit for Food Not
Bombs KL
8.30pm, Saturday 24th January @ NBT - RM 10

Bands: Force Vomit, Kuchalana, Pusher, Carburetor Dung, Sampah
Masyarakat, Fast Game, Minority (yes, the original Kuantan Minority)
and more to be announced.

and of course, the ever punk rawk & panas keropok lekor goreng!!!

do bring your unwanted clothing items, packets of rice, blankets,
towels etc for Food Not Bombs KL's activities.

alright, do keep your Chinese New Year holidays open for the big gig,
be there and celebrate the passing of a very, very good friend.

cheers,

joe
