Here is some information on Tugu Drum circle.
Tugu Drum Circle is a loose gathering of drummers and percussionists,
every Sunday at Tugu Negara Carpark from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
Our aim is to promote drums and percussion to people as well as to
gather a community of people with a shared interest in drumming. There
are no leaders in this group as such, the only person that leads is the
person that starts a rhythm during the drum circle.
All are welcome to join in, however they are a few guidelines that we
would like others to follow. They are all about respect for each other,
for each other's instruments and for the drumming.
1. Always ask the owner of the instrument for permission to play their
drum or percussion instrument prior to playing it.
2. Always return the instrument to the rightful owner in the same
condition it was borrowed.
3. Try to keep the beat and follow the rhythm and keep in time.
4. When soloing always know where the 'one' is.
5. Play as a group and listen to on another.
We played and performed at Urbanscapes for Malaysian Aids Council and
for Women's Aid Organisation, for free, at their request. We apologise
to the other stall holders for inadvertanly drowning out their own
quieter performances. We did not realize that this was going on (No one
told us that this was the case). If we did we would have played a
little quieter.
If you like to bang, see you at Tugu on Sunday, weather permitting!
