Hello Everyone,

We wanted to get the word out, after we've been telling people that we would be playing at
McGonigel's Mucky Duck on February 21st, that we will NOT be there on the 21st. The Duck
double booked the date, and we got bumped. We are trying to get another date lined up, and
will let you know as soon as we find out. For those of you in Texas, please help us get the
word out. We just finished the weekend at Dickens on the Strand in Galveston, and we were
telling people there that we would be at the Duck on the 21st.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I can honestly say that this one is not our fault, though. Thanks
for your support, and we hope to see you at the Duck, whenever that will be. We are NOT
performing at the Duck for St. Patrick's Day, so our show, when we get it scheduled, will be
the only opportunity to see The Rogues in Houston in the near future.

Just a heads up, we will be performing at the North Texas Irish Festival this year, March 6-8,
in Dallas.

Well, that's a shame, but we'll hold out for another date and mark the calendar for NTIF--we've so hoped you'd be going back there.  It was an amazing weekend the last time!!

Just to let the rest of the group know, the guys most generously gave their all this past weekend in Galveston as "volunteers" to help out the Island and Dickens on The Strand.  It seemed that they played non stop for two days, and they brought back the music, dancing, laughter, and life to an area that just a couple of weeks ago looked like it would never see any joy or hope again.

As a Galvestonian, I cannot thank them enough.  As a longtime friend, I cannot find the words....except to say, thank you--it was a tremendous weekend!

Hi Everybody.
I know it's late but I have 3 VIP tickets to the Sat. night show that I can't use.  Something has come up and
I won't be able to make it.  If anyone would like them let me know and I can meet you there to give them to you.  I paid $40 each for them, but I'm willing to bargain.

Thanks,

I'm with you!  The sun beats down awfully on the stage they were on last year.  Not to mention that many people end up standing out in the walkway as the seats fill up fast.  You could really see how the Rogues were suffering from the heat too...

FREE WHISKI…

Masquerading as ‘mild mannered’ celtic musicians, Rodger Harrison, Garren Bagely and Deanna Smith Scotland live ordinary normal lives. But every now and then they slip into a VW mini-bus, and become…(insert dramatic music here)… FREE WHISKI. Playing the songs they grew up with from bands like CSN&Y, The Eagles, Janis Joplin, as well as newer bands like Hootie and the Blowfish, Free Whiski has been amazing audiences all over North Texas with their hot guitars, powerful vocals, soaring harmonies and feats of super human strength.

Hi Folks,

Just a short note to let you know that Free Whiski will be playing at The Tipperary Inn in Dallas.

Deanna and the boys could really use all of their friends to come out and make this a fabulous gig.

Free Whiski will be performing from 9pm to 1am

The Tipperary Inn

5815 Live Oak St

For those of you in reach of the Texas Renaissance Festival, there will be a Rogues reunion
of sorts, as part of the Clan MacClugh reunion this weekend, November 15 & 16. Randy,
Bryan, Jimmy and Lars will be playing, and sometimes joined by EJ when he can. Saturday
will be without Jimmy until the evening, but Sunday will be all four.

The performances will be in front of the Cloisters stage, which is is in Sherwood Forest where
the carillon (the bells) play. The show times are 10:00, 12:00 and 2:00, and probably a lane
show in front of the Sea Devil Tavern before the Fireworks.

Sorry for the late notice, but please pass the word around. Hope to see you all this weekend.

Good grief! I heard that they are noisy. They had to use them for the
expansion of the Woodrow Wilson bridge. We seem to have a reprieve
from jack hammering today. They start at 7:30 and leave around 1:30.
The fun part for me is moving meetings to other conference rooms.
BTW, they were suppose to have the front walkway done over the
weekend, but someone stole the air compressor.

Happy Pumpkin Pie day to you and everyone else. I need to puree some
pumpkin tonight.

BTW, looks like I won't be at Dickens on the Strand this year. If I
win the Mega Millions tonight, then I will be there. Maybe next year.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Dickens Festival.....  ;-)

Hey there!!!

It's Sarita waving from Galveston.  The Rogues are absolutely right --Dickens is definitely ONNNN :)  We're
marching slowly towards recovery, but we are still very battered and bruised.  Those who have been here
before will not recognize the place (many I know on seeing the Island for the first time have burst into tears).
Dickens has to happen for many reasons, but chiefly so that we can find some financial help.  Normally
Dickens (and Mardi Gras) is a shot in the arm to the tourist industry during the winter months.   Since the
storm there *is* no tourism, unlike New Orleans where Katrina decimated mostly homes, Ike heavily damaged
our tourist destinations as well as our homes.

In addition, Dickens should go a long way to restore some of the normalcy and hopefully usher in the Season
of Hope--something that Galveston could really use right now.

Seeing the smiles of friendly faces wouldn't do us any harm either.  (And hey, I'm not proud, I could stand
to see all of you and collect a few hugs.)

And knowing we can always count on them, the Rogues are showing us their tremendous and loving support by
playing for free--we need to show our support for them for turning out--or in our case stop cleaning up around our
house to come out and celebrate for a change.  :-)  If you haven't gotten your copy of American Highlander---or
need them for holiday gift giving, here's your chance.  It is an awesome CD!!

If the pub isn't open, I'm sure we can find some place to get a drink while we have a listen :))))

Hey, Randy?  Would you post a schedule of the stage shows when you know them??

Hugs to all,
Sarita Oertling

Hello Everyone,

For those of you who were wondering if Galveston, TX would recover in
time for Dickens on
the Strand, the answer is YES. We will be appearing as usual, with a
few stage shows and
street shows. Look for us in front of Murphy's Pub on 22nd between
Strand and Mechanic
streets. The pub may not be open, however, as they were flooded
during the storm.

We are asking people to come out in droves to help Galveston recover
from their worst
hurricane in many years. To help out, The Rogues are performing free
of charge to the
festival.

We hope to see everyone there on December 6 & 7. Please help us get
the word out by
forwarding this on to your friends who are not on our e-group.

Thanks in advance for helping Galveston recover. For more information

Ok, early this am I went to have blood withdrawn (6 viles) to see if
I'm a match for a 10 year old girl with Acute Lymphoblastical Leukemia.
Waited for an hour and 15 minutes and then it took 30 minutes to get
the blood out of me;-) (My blood doesn't like to leave me) The sad part
is when it was my turn, they didn't say Karen Stevenson, they said 0-
7444-4331-0. If you know someone who needs to have a bone marrow
transplant, please give them this number. Talk about feeling like a
number! I teased the woman who called me to the back area. I will find
out in about 8 weeks to see if I'm a good match. Cross fingers that I
am!

It was only 112 days (July 9th) from the time I registered (swabbing
cheeks) to getting a call (October 29th-aka Mom's birthday) that I'm
a "potential donor". I hope that in reading this other people will
register. I have the "potential" of saving this girl's life!

I got this from another one of my yahoo groups. In an ironic twist, I
got a call from the National Marrow Donor Program (NMPP) today. I'm a

Hope to see some of you there. It's on Crownsville Road between faire

Ok, so week 7 was a little insane for me. I was dealing with a
plugged left ear and allergies. Also my house mate and his daughter
came to faire for the first time. It was really funny because they
kept stopping and looking at everything. I did manage to corral them
to the Rogues first show. I was also recruited to video the start of
the Green Men March on Sunday. Other then that I know I was there and
in an allergy fog. German music for October fest. Packed Parking
lot!!! Sarita got to hear closing cannon over my cell phone as I sat
to get out of the parking lot.

Week 8:
I managed to be there for opening cannon for only the 2nd time this
year. Doug and Lyric were here and at one point were only playing one
bagpipe. Too funny guys! Melody(aka The Rogues web mistress) and her
husband were at faire. I called Melody on her cell. She said "it's
Karen". I said I see you. She looks right "your looking the wrong
way" turns around "hi there".

Sunday I got to be a "substitute" CD seller for The Rogues for the
first time. I was standing on the rocks for Jenesse. It was funny
when Nelson was saying all of the CD sellers names and then suddenly
looked up and saw me. "and Karen" (saying questioningly). Classic
moment.

Week 9 preview:
It was announced that Corey will be here this weekend. YEAH, this
made Sarita's day. There will be 5 Rogues playing this weekend.
Randy, Nelson, Jimmy, Lyric and Corey. This should be fun.

Deakstock II will be happening this Saturday night at 8pm. I have the
priviledge of helping out that night and making 2 pies. One for
auction and one for eating. I think $5 a piece (used this word since
it has PIE in it) is a reasonable price for a benefit;-)

Tom and Sarita are SO READY to be here! They just got hot water
yesterday (or was it Sunday).

Preparing for the craziness of final weekend;-0

a bit off topic here, but...
We fell in love with the Rogues at Scarborough, where we also grew to enjoy Isis and her belly dancers.  Up here at the Pennsylvania Ren Faire, they've had a few belly dancers, but they have been AWFUL!  Do any of y'all know of GOOD belly dancing troupes that work the Ren Faires in the east?  I'm trying to give good options to the folks at this one.

Thanx

Hugs to Tom and Sarita!!!!

It took two weeks to get power back on in Pasadena, and yeah we were
doing the generator thing, too.

I hope you get your generator back/replaced and the police find those
nasty (add lots of ugly words here) scum rats.

MUDFEST 2008 occurred this past weekend! Sunday was horrible with the
mud. I thought was going to loose my sneaker to the mud. Otherwise it
was another fun weekend. Allie, Jenesse and Steve's daughter,
celebrated her 7th birthday on Sunday. Saturday evening Maria's
fiance, Lyric and another guy sang "the pumpkin pie" song. I just
might have to put it on YouTube!

On Sunday the 6:15 show was a little late. The Rogues did 3 songs and
then Doug walks over to me and says "If it's ok, we (Lyric and Doug)
are going to change in the back seat of your car". I said it was ok.
They did another song and then the 3 of us bolted from the Dragon Inn
so that we could leave by 7. I had to tell them to slow down a couple
of times (due to mud) and I'm about a foot shorter.

I took a short cut just in case there was traffic and so that D&L
wouldn't flash anyone;-) I was playing Free Bird and I think they
were changed about half way through the song. They liked my music.
The funny part was when one song came on and in 3 notes they knew it
was Aerosmith. They seemed a little surprised that I had "i don't
want to miss a thing" on the CD. I've only got 20 years on them <G>.
I did tell them that I was going to post about this as it was just
too funny. Doug asked if anyone ever changed in my back seat before.
I told him it was a first. I found 60 cents when I got home. Must
have been when the kilts went over their heads. LOL.

We called Tom and Sarita on the way. I can't wait for them to be here
final weekend! They had their generator stolen the other night. They
filed a police report. Hope they catch the Rat B*st*rds!

Hopefully my cold will be gone before the weekend. It's October fest
weekend. Oom Pah Pah. What is a bartender's favorite music? Polka
because it has lots of hops. If you did or didn't like that write to
Dear Brother Barwick, Hengrave Hall MDRF.

Later,
Karen

Glad to hear it was a great weekend at faire...  ProgPower in Atlanta was AMAZING... Can't wait to see everyone next weekend - once I catch up on all the missed sleep...

Ok, so this is delayed due to End of Federal Fiscal Year AND illness on
my part. Thankfully it was just a 36 hour bug.

It was another fun weekend at MDRF. Corey and Jimmy were back. Lots of
sillyness occurred!!!!!

Dragon show on Sunday was out of control;-) It was definitely a 'you
had to be there' show. More pumpkin pies.

Tom and Sarita got to hear all of the shows via my cell phone. When I
got home and called Sarita, she asked what all of the laughing was
about and I told her. You had to be there to appreciate it.
