As you well know, I am not big on chain letters or
warnings, but this one is important, because it has to
do with the ruining of my company name as well as
yours. It is concerning the SoBig.F Virus. This
virus, once opened by someone that has your name in
their address book e-mails not only you and their
friends, but it also takes the liberty to e-mail out
to everyone in your address book as well, without you
even have opening it or reading it, so just to let you
know, I DO NOT EVER SEND OUT E-MAILS WITH ATTACHMENTS,
UNLESS I SPECIFY THAT I HAVE DONE SO. This e-mail is
to serve as a disclaimer and warning to be aware and
cautious of such e-mails, not only from me, but from
everyone. The virus is rapid spreading and is also an
overflowing inbox threat. The following are some
facts to know about spotting the virus in your inbox
as well more details on what it does, as specified by
CNN News:
Facts to know:
The e-mail carrying the virus contains any one of
these subject lines: "Your details," "Thank you!,"
"Your application" and "Wicked screensaver." --The
e-mail contains an attachment with a .pir or .scr file
name.
What you should do if you see it in your e-mail box:
Delete it. Do not click on the message. Do not
download or open the attachment.
Why you could still get hit:
When the attachment is downloaded and opened, it
infects the computer and then sends itself to others
using an e-mail address randomly chosen from the
address book. So if your friend Joe gets hit with the
SoBig.F virus. It then chooses a name randomly from
Joe's address book--possibly yours--and replicates
itself in a mass e-mail using that name. If your name
is the one it choose, you could receive a message from
a friend or even your company saying you transmitted a
virus even if you didn't.
