Has anyone heard why Supergrass cancelled the last 4 shows of their
US tour?? The news articles all say for a "serious illness" of a
family member.

we've made our own club called UK and Indie Music. All lovers of UK

Formed on the thriving Silver Lake music scene during the summer
of `02, The Shore brings together a young line-up from such far-flung
locales as Philadelphia, Detroit and the surf haven of Dana Point in
Orange County, California. With a name as evocative as their music,
The Shore is a richly talented young quartet whose seamless ensemble
sound welds a rich mix of influences. From Neil Young to Coldplay to
the Verve, The Shore brings it all together in a grand musical vision
that is reminiscent of the best that rock can be while remaining
utterly innovative and original. Listen to their latest single,
Firefly that is featured on thier upcoming EP release.

That'll be the end of Supergrass on Parlophone more like!

That's the 5 album deal done.

They are making a new album they reckon. Don't think Rush Hour Soul even
charted!

Why they never released Can't Get Up I'll never know. that and Grace were the
albums singles for me.

I bet we'll end up waiting till 2005 for any other new material :(

   DVD should be good though

Nah, they've been thinking about a greatest hits album since before their last
album. Fortunately, they enjoy making music too much for anyone to say RIP
Supergrass for a good few years...forget lazy stereotypes.

I've always thought a B-side's album would be good, as those tracks are better
than any other I can think of.

I think their Greatest Hits album will be one of the best ever. Fingers crossed
the two new tracks are up to par so as not to ruin it.

Anyone have any thoughts on the tracklisting?

Should they include Time? Never Done Nothing?

Also did Rush Hour Soul even chart??

I think they should keep the order chronological, its an awesome line up of
songs.

The only bad thing about all this will be that seeing Supergrass live will now
be even more predictable than before, when will they play some album tracks or
b-side??

   Nigel

Very true! I've been playing around with compilations of them for years. The
last albums B-sides weren't quite as good as they have been though. I think an
album of the best would have to include these tracks:-

   Believer
   We Still Need More (Remix)
Nothing Mores Gonna Get In My Way
   Tishing In Windows
   Odd?
   Don't Be Cruel

   Condition
   Sick
   What A Shame
   20ft Halo
   Melanie Davis
   Wait For The Sun

In fact, there's enough tracks for two now:

   The Loner
Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others
   That Old Song
   Velvetine
   Lucky
   Everytime
   Je Suis Papa Sucre
Where Have All The Good Times Gone (Live)
   Caught By The Fuzz (Acoustic)
   Its Not Me (Acoustic)
Sun Hits The Sky (Radio 1)
   Faraway (Acoustic)
   You'll Never Walk Again
   Sex!
   Animal
   Sometimes We're Very Sad
   Electric Cowboy

AND all the live tracks....AND the classic Swimming Hat!

Rush hour soul didnt chart because it was originally only gonna be
released in America but cos they liked the video so much (and it is a

one of my favorite tracks of LOOP, Matt

My greatest hits lineup:

Alright
Caught by the fuzz
Lenny
Sitting up Straight
Going Out
Richard III
Sun Hits the Sky
Late in the Day
Tonight
Cheapskate
Pumping on your Stereo
Moving
Mary
Grace

in an approximate chronological order. Note these are not necessarily my fav
'grass songs, but just what i think would be a good "hits" lineup. Would
probably tick in at just under an hour (i'd prefer that kind of length i think,
rather than a 77 minute long feast. don't ask me why :) ).
btw i've probably missed something real obvious :)

I see however that they have stated it will contain all their single releases,
which would include Mansize Rooster, NDNLTB, Seen the Light, & Rush Hour Soul;
although I think other songs are better off on it.

i hate b-sides comps 'cause i spent so much time to collect the singles, it
negates all my time and effort! Greatest Hits aren't mush
better, especially when the band puts a song on it ya don't already have, then
ya have to shell out 15 bucks fer the one tune! all the
tunes rock.

i like the idea of putting an extra CD in with the album ala 'In It for the
Money'

are the boys playing Electric Cowboy in concert?? anyone know?

Just to let everyone know... Supergrass still have 2 albums left under their
deal with Parlophone (they were signed to a 6 album deal, not 5) and the
greatest hits one doesn't count as it'll be mostly old stuff.

The next proper album is hopefully going to be released early in 2005, but
as ever with Supergrass, it'll be ready when it's ready, so don't hold your
breath.

So there you go, the greatest hits isn't a bad thing, it's just a good way
to celebrate 10 years of Supergrass.

Dave.

The album is going to have ALL the singles on it.

I just hope they can run off a limied edition 2CD version with a b-sides
collection on it, too. That would be ace.

True, but for new fans who can't get hold of the old singles it saves them a
lot of time and money. If it's a
"Best Of B-Sides" then I think it can work. Pearl Jams Lost Dogs is a great
example of how to do it.

The 6 album deal info I spouted earlier came straight from the horses mouth,
so it looks like no bye bye for Supergrass just yet.

What's with all the doom and gloom on the list anyway? There's a DVD to look
forward to, the best of including a couple of new tracks, and a brand new
album to look forward to early next year... I've even got my finger out and
started smartening up the site in preparation. The next 12 months look like
a very good time for Supergrass, and of course us.

   Hi Dave,
Great job with the site! Think people were just worried about the band
splitting to be honest. Rush Hour Soul didn't exactly set the
charts on fire either! Understandable that people are thinking it could be the
end. A lot of the so called Britpop bands have split in the
   last couple of years, notably:-

Suede, Pulp, Cast, Elastica, Shed Seven, Menswear, Sleeper, Catatonia...

Oasis have lost members, so have Blur and OCS...

In fact I think Supergrass are the only big band from that period left
standing intact aren't they?? Oh Bluetones and Charlatans I guess..

Can you please ask The Grass to include anything they can from their Pearl Jam
tour if at all possible - that would have been
amazing to see both bands on the same bill! ANY footage would be good.

Can you confirm if Time will be on the hits collection?

   Ross Thomas

I don't know, the Rolling Stones have had loads of
hits albums and they're still going. Same with REM.
Same with Blur. Same with U2. Same with Bowie. Same
with many other bands/artists. It's what
bands/artists do. A hits package is a good way of
generating interest between albums, and getting a
second bite at the cherry for old material. It won't
be of great interest to us, because we've got all the
stuff, but to your average record buyer out there who
may not have all (or any of) the material, it'd be a
worthwhile purchase.

whats with all the doom and gloom? Greatest hits albums tend to spell
the end, certainly the end of a band being any good. As far as extra
tracks, somebody name me one extra track from a greatest hits album
that is actually any good. They just add them to give the devotees a
reason to buy the album. And what is the point of a greatest hits
album after just 4 studio albums anyway? I can't see any
justification for it, other than to make some £'s.
