Hey, Paul. "Two Virgins" and "Life with the
Lions" ARE worth buying, but only for the collecting
value; not the music inside. Unless you're like me, and
can enjoy an album's worth of a stoned John and Yoko
screwing around on a home tape recorder with their voices,
instruments, tape loops, and other noise devices, you'll
probably listen to this album for about 30 seconds before
yanking it off and replacing it with "Imagine". How John
and Yoko seduced each other while Cynthia Lennon was
away makes for a unique historic document, but genius
it ain't (unless you put it up against Lou Reed's
"Metal Machine Music"). "Life with the Lions", I've only
heard maybe once, and while it better resembles music
(in an avant-garde way), you must remember that,
while John was exploring artistic experimentation with
Yoko on these albums, this was the period during which
he was also expanding his classic rock credentials
with The Beatles in contributions to "The White
Album", "Let it Be", and "Abbey Road". There's a
not-so-fine line between John Winston Lennon and John Ono
Lennon.
