WHAT AFTERGLOW, can you seeeee it, feeeeel it. STILL. HAPPY MEMORIES, Thank you to all who performed and attended. If you are going on The Blues Cruise...brace yourself, its a deliciously wild ride. If you're like me, you will sleep most of the following day. Sort of funny how the mind can say to the body, please move, but the statue pose does not morph into anything different.
The Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise Revue-my son Taylor performing w/KENNY NEAL and TOMMY CASTRO and band - and DeAnna Bogart and Magic Dick. Our locals Ty Curtis and Gayelee Russell hit the stage too for a jam. Ty and Gayelee have my space pages (can access through my my space ifyawanna). A few ops T and the fellas chatted. Taylor told me last night that when Ty was up, T was leaning against the side wall aisle by the stage and Tommy snuck up and asked "Do you know this song?" T said "Nope", Tommy said "Neither do I."
Keith Crossan and T had a nice exchange, as did Scot Sunderland, and Steve (all from TCB). T and Deanna got to really meet after the concert when many of us walked a block away to Rileys - a nice venue/restaurant (they catered the day and footed the bill). Early in the night when I welcomed Kenny introduced ourselves, softly shared that T was "...an up n'comin' musician", we chatted for a couple, then I wandered off (I was working and playing) and Kenny and T spoke some more...how generous of Kenny to invite T up to jam during the second set. Taylor played Scot's bass for the last two songs. At the end he thanks the bandmates and started to walk off stage but Kenny motioned to T to join the final bow - what a thrill. I was beaming, happyhappy birthday celebration for me...trying to take pictures through my happymama tears...started to choke up thanking Tommy and I believe her name is Jamie - TCB's
merchandise friend, lovely woman -before we left for the restaurant. While Taylor is on stage, I was sitting in the open area of the second or third floor row, almost could reach out and touch the stage...Kate - who helped put on the show (with Steve "Guido" Magnolia (of Magnolia Audio and Sound, in Albany OREGON) and front man of the band The Porch Dawgs (see my space for the band).) and I were sitting fairly close and I reached out just told my friend that I loved her for giving us to op to attend "I love you for this." So glad I didn't get 'the ugly cry', you know, what the body decides to sob n stompshake.. .almost felt my feet were off the floor I was so happy...I think one could of bottled an energy drink with how I was glowing from the inside out. Dennis Monroe of The Porch Dawgs did a great performance. ..then again, I have never seen this smart, talented, right on family man, gorgeous
inside n' out, ever do bad geeeeetar playing and singing. DeAnna Bogart, what a beaut gal , shared a reassuring pat on T and a few mentoring words on her way out of our gathering at the restaurant. I am looking forward to the time that Kate and Jerry - of Stand Up Productions - bring Deanna out to Oregon for another concert. Magic Dick, what a card he is...the last time I saw him was with The J. Giles Band...was in Calfornia... during my wild days...guess that was the 70's and half of the 80's...when his hair was frizzed out to the end of his shoulders. MG is quite the primper in front of the mirror w'dah hair...and when he passed, there were smiles, I respectfully said "There is the hair we know and love." Lovely to meet Ronnie, Scot, and Tom of TCB. Our local fella Ty Curtis...who is trying to raise monies for his band to attend Journey To Memphis - they won The Waterfront Blues Festival 'talent
competition" to do that national event as reps for Oregon...wowed wowed wowed the crowd and the elders on stage. I am not much for out loud "woohoo-ing" but I think I blurted one out "...that's our Ty..." I believe I was just in awe when my son Taylor hit the stage with Tommy locking eyes with T and saying to the crowd Taylor my man come on up. We all spoke afterward, T said "...it was the best..." What joy! T has glowed constant since the morning of Sunday. That day and night was a huge confidence booster. For Taylor to change his work schedule just to hang out with me-dah-MOM was the best birthday present. I think I will take my brother's advice in that I have earned my 56 years and for each birthday thereafter I have "earned the right" to pick any number I want...then bro Johnny wished me "Happy 27th". What a gut heaving laugh he gave me.LOVE.
(((Much to do today, trying to get money together,
