OMG! Just heard that I have an imposter! Ok, that's creepy. This
is Jen Paige...someone has been speaking as me under 'hi2u'...not
me. Sorry 'bout that. I actually DID have a nice time in Germany
but I don't actually have a song about about darkness blah, blah,
blah! Anyway, whoever you are, stop it.
Hi Guys! Thanks for sticking around. Finally got the Yahoo cleaned
up a bit; and, should be making some new additions to
jenniferpaige.com, as well. I'm really excited about the new
record. Looks like it will be released in Europe mid-Sept. Cool,
huh? :) I was just putting together the order on the cd and was
thinking, wow, this is what a few years of life looks like! So many
songs represent these last several years, and it's cool for me to
see it all wrapped up in the record.
I am in Nashville recording the finishing touches. The record has
many International influences. It was recorded in Los Angeles,
Ibiza, Germany and Nashville.
Keep ya posted! I'll be posting some new stuff shortly. Got some
new tshirts and merchandise for you to check out, too. I'm feeling
really good and looking forward to seeing all of you soon. :)

That guy was a hit-and-run-- we'll probably never see him again,
unlike that expletive-spewing monobrow that's been junking up the
forum. B's gonna have to keep a close eye on that one or we're gonna
get hammered again.
> Furthermore it is not the job of the moderator to post information

Honestly, there hasn't been much to talk about until recently. You've
been putting a lot of effort into an album. A mailing list/web forum
like this will be subject to quiet periods. When you're in the studio
writing or recording, there's not too much to say. Once you have a
record in the stores and line up some dates, we'll probably be quite
busy here. On the whole this is better than what happened to the
"Fumbling Towards Ecstacy" group of Sarah McLachlan fans. When she
went off to have a baby, people on the group kept talking... and
talking... and talking... and pretty much left Sarah behind. I left
not long after Sarah released an album, and nobody on the list seemed
to care because the group as a whole had digressed so far from their
original purpose.
Before MySpace and when jenniferpaige.com was under Disney's control,
B was one of the few people who let the community know what you were
up to. And, needless to say, we like hearing from you when you get a
chance to drop by. I hope once things get busy, you'll still be able
to throw us a nod every once in a while.
A word about MySpace: I don't particularly like it. In fact, there's
exactly one MySpace profile I've read more than once-- yours. I go
there because it gives you an easy way to let us know what you're
doing. And, if Steve doesn't like the design, that's fine and well.
I'd rather have you behind a piano or before a mic making music than
cowering over your laptop teaching yourself HTML.
Jen!
Nice to see you back on this forum. I'm happy you have a great time
in Germany. I'm sure you will surprise us with your new album!

B, I have a little forum in my site, here is the link:

But I'm planning to change it, cause there is a lot of publicity, and
I found a site to do a better forum.

Well...looks like we have a kid with too much time on his hands....all
I can do is check the site daily and continue to ban him and report it
to Yahoo....maybe they can get it under control....or maybe he'll just
get tired.
Anyway....Jen's back in the states ...working on completing four songs
in Nashville...and then back to Germany.
Seems like a really good label...lots of positive ideas for promotion
and they seem to be behind her all the way.....could be interesting.
I'll ask her to stop by and do a little updating from her perspective.
Laters.........B

I was able to convert the Indie 911 tracks to AAC for personal use.
However, I will not distribute those tracks since I don't know if any
of them have made the album of not. Perhaps, after the album is in
circulation, I'll contact Jen's manager about making any "orphaned"
tracks available online.
It's hard for me to feel sorry for the RIAA and "artists" with
millions of units in sales. Jen, however, works for a living like most
of us, and I will do my part to protect her rights when it comes to
monetizing her efforts.

It looks like Indie 911 had a makeover and dropped Jen's page, so
those tracks ("Clay," "The Calling," "Long Way Down," "I Believe,"
"Begin Again" and "Bleed For You" are currently unavailable.

Not as sorry as I am. The $20 fine wasn't that bad, but $137 in court costs
hurt a little.

Ok. B, answer or defer to Jen as needed:
Between Indie 911, MySpace and the preview disc, Jen already has an album's
worth of
material in circulation. Which ones make the album, and which are web
exclusives?
Any "full band" dates in the works?
Any more good stories from the Josh Kelley tour?

Hi B!
Nice to see you back. And great that finally the forum get cleaned,
these all spam and dirty messages were very annoying...

It's good that Jen has written most of the songs, it will be a more
personal album. Just a little wait to listen it :)

What's up guys.........long, long time no talk.
Looks like we're about to go there again so I thought I'd stop by to
say Hi.
Sorry about that speeding ticket, Drama.......and Rosa.....you've
been one busy girl, huh...love your website?
Sorry about the spam and vulgar.......that's over...may be there for
a short time but I'll put a stop to it.
So you all know that Jen's record will be out by September.....some
good stuff.......most songs written by Jen. It's all still in the
works but coming together well.
She's in Germany for the next couple of weeks and then back to the
states. Busy, busy three months ahead with a lot of air mileage
building up....good thing she enjoys flying.
I'll ask her to stop by with a message, so if you have any
questions....now's to time ask.
Be well..........B
Anyone know if it's true Jennifer Paige has a cd/dvd of her album
"Flowers - The Hits Collection"? I saw this Spanish Website which
listed it as available. But the only thing resembling it is a Japanese
cd+vcd. No dvd unfortunately. :( Would appreciate some feedback. Thanks.
My job requires a lot of travel. I've had more than one occasion where
I've walked into the office one morning only to turn around and dash
out to a client site some 200 miles away.
However, I do occasionally get to pick my assignments, and so I opted
to go to New Orleans, which coincided with Jen's last scheduled
performance on the Josh Kelley tour. I wasn't looking forward to
driving across three states after a four hundred mile round trip the
week before, but the opportunity to catch Jen performing again was
irresistible.
I left Birmingham at 6:30 a.m. and was making good time. As I was
going down the highway, I came up on a 2007 Dodge Charger in a dark
grey color. When I noticed the highway patrol license plate, it was
too late-- I was the proud owner of a ticket for driving 85 in a 70
mph zone. I was rather disgusted with myself because I generally don't
drive that fast and when I do, I make it a point to not attract police
attention.
Still reeling from the traffic stop, I made my way to the next city,
where traffic suddenly came to a crawl. I slogged my way through town
only to find a serious accident ten miles down the road. I did have
the good fortune to fall behind a police car that lead the way off the
highway onto a couple of side streets that let me bypass the crash scene.
The delays (one due to my own stupidity, one out of my control),
resulted me in arriving late onsite. I wasn't able to accomplish
everything I wanted to do today, so I arrived at my hotel feeling
tired, disgusted and frustrated. The only thing that kept me from
turning around and driving home was the promise of hearing the voice
of a certain blonde singer/songwriter.
I arrived at my hotel at 5:15 p.m. I spent a couple of hours
recovering from the day's events before walking the couple of blocks
to the House of Blues. I went up to the gate, presented my ID, then
was informed my camera was "too professional" to allow inside. A
couple of questions got me an audience with the venue's production
manager. I showed her my equipment (a Minolta Dimage Z6, a upmarket
consumer digital camera), and was told it was outside "the band's
guidelines." I asked who decides the guidelines... the venue? Josh
Kelley? Jen? The production manager suggested I return the camera to
my hotel room. That would have been pointless, as after walking back
to the hotel, placing the camera in a safe place, then returning to
the venue, Jen would have finished her set.
A second person from the venue walked up and apologized for all the
delays in answering my questions. I went into my entire argument about
cameras and form factors (my Minolta is a midsize zoom camera,
somewhat smaller than an SLR) and explained that there were in fact
smaller pocket cameras with higher resolution than mine. The venue had
not posted a photography policy at the door, nor was one listed for
the performance at Jen's MySpace site. The venue insisted I should
have reqested media credentials before the show.
"Ok... So I needed to call Josh Kelley's manager before I decided to
come to New Orleans for my regular job, right?" The venue manager
radioed the box office.
"Josh Kelley?" the venue manager replied. "He canceled last week.
Peeping Tom is performing tonight." It became clear. I was going by a
date on Jen's MySpace calendar she forgot to remove.
Now, I'm back in my hotel. I could have opted for another project
closer to home and avoided a speeding ticket. But what the hell.. I'm
going up to Bourbon Street to get drunk.
I got a chance to catch up with Jen in Birmingham Saturday night. She's
performing with Josh Kelley on a swing through the southeast and midwest
United States.
In Birmingham, Jen was the opener with a 30 minute acoustic set,
focusing on the Red Album:
Stranded (Positively Somewhere's only representative)
Sober
Broken Things (a Juliet Turner cover)
Always You
I Do (a new song)
Crush
The reading of "Stranded" is a lot like the live recording that's
circulating around the P2P nets, without the percussion. Jen was
accompanied by Nashville based guitarist Ben Taber throughout the set,
and joined by Josh Kelley's band for "Crush." She still works in her
homage to Blondie, the "Man from Mars" rap.
She later joined Keaton Simons (Kelley's guitarist, who performed a set
of his own) on stage for one of his songs.
"I Do" is a new song on an untitled seven track CD Jen is selling at the
shows. The CD doesn't include any of the Indie 911 tracks nor any
MySpace tracks save for "Here In The Sunshine." The disc's short
running time and minimal liner notes (only a track listing, which
follows, and composer credits) suggest it may be a promo piece or an
advance, with more to come. For lack of a title, I'll call it "the Blue
Album" since the cover has a blue duotone portrait of Jen.
The Blue Album includes:
More
Here In The Sunshine (featured at
http://www.myspace.com/jenniferpaigemusic
<http://www.myspace.com/jenniferpaigemusic> )
Bloom
I Do
Downpour
Best Kept Secret (Nothing like what you would expect from Jen [;)] )
Sugarcoated
Please note that due to copyright restrictions, I will be unable to
provide anyone on the list with copies of the tracks. Jen has already
made a lot of music freely available online, so I'm more than happy to
let her monetize some of her efforts with these.
I spoke to Jen after the show. She still keeps up with the group
despite having not posted in a while, and she's as tired of the spam as
we are. Her management's looking into some alternatives.
She's getting along well with Kelley and his band. At the end of her
set, there was the expected "I think the guys have a 'crush'" joke, and
when we were talking later, the mention of "eight guys and one girl on a
tour bus" came up and I made like I was trying to decide... "eight
guys.... one girl.... eight guys... one girl..." There are some more
ribald jokes you can make based on that scenario (but keep them to
yourselves. [:p] ).
I wasn't trying to get a lot of information this time-- I just wanted to
hear her perform and meet her. I'm looking at the calendar and seeing if
I can manage a roadtrip to one of the other shows. No guarantees, but
I'll pass along anything else I learn.
As for Steve's comments about MySpace... I don't like MySpace myself,
but it does give Jen a way to pass along information online without
having to get a web developer involved. So give her a break... I'd
rather see her writing songs than trying to improve her web design
skills. I do think she needs a website redesign though. The site at
jenniferpaige.com looks more like it was designed for a major label
artist who has web people available all the time to make changes and
post updates. An indie would do better with a site that incorporates a
lot of the enablers MySpace has so they or their managers can update
things themselves without having to worry about design or dealing with
Flash, but with a good design that makes it easy to read and navigate.
Thanks in part to changing musical tastes and mostly to Hollywood
Records' lack of A&R support, Jen's audience has been a long-suffering
lot. However, she never stopped making music and now it looks like we're
on the brink of a major push. Keep your eyes open, kids... it could get
interesting.
One more thing: 42.
[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Is it me, or is MySpace the lamest invention ever? Reading mindless
crap from losers who know nothing about Jen or her music is a complete
waste of time. I guess this is the only place her real fans can go to
talk about her music. Seeing as how whoever runs her site for her is
giving us nothing to read, do any of you have any news/reviews about
the tour and upcoming CD? Is she any closer to a deal with a real
label? I've got lots of questions about this situation...
-Steve
Hi Rosa
I recently joined MYSPACE.. so i checked out Jen's Myspace page. I managed to
get the songs for my Ipod so im really happy. i can listen to some of the new
songs now when im out and about. I just love them.
Hope there will be an album though.... it really has been such a long time
now.
I managed to request you as a friend i think on Myspace.. Let me know if you
got my invite.
Also someone needs to sort out the spam on this list. the Moderator needs to
get into the account and delete the spammers and block them. Also a moderated
membership for each new person would be a good idea.. so not just any old spam
bot can join.
Take care
Anthony
