Hi Sue:

I don't know for sure, because I haven't seen them yet, but I am
guessing the answer would be no. I am pretty sure that it is a
standard format DVD.

I have not been able to see the band perform in a few years. I went
this summer to Brazil and they were great as always.

I was sad to see ELVIS was retired. I read the interview about why
Glenn stopped and I think that he should be very proud of his tribute
because he always gave me chills when I saw him perform. I am so glad
he stuck to his plan. I am sorry he did but I can understand why he
made that choice. THANKS Glenn for those chills!

I also see he got married...CONGRATS.

And I read paul is gone...oh dear. When and why did he leave?
Best to you Paul.

I am going to the concert next Saturday and wanted to ask you FANS a
question...I know the show is 8. What time do they open the doors and
what time do you suggest I get in line to get a GOOD seat?

Thanks for your answers. Can't wait for this show!!!!!

I have been a fan of The Van Dell's for many years. I always enjoy
their show and see them every opportunity I have.
I saw them when they were at Breaks Interstate Park this past July. I
took my Dad. He turned 86 just a few days after seeing the show. I
wanted to let you know how much he enjoyed seeing the guys and hearing
them perform. He talked about them on many occasions. Unfortunately,
Dad passed away just over 2 months after the show. Just wanted to say
thanks for this memory of my dad at your show You guys are the
greatest.

I have known the guys since 1974 when they played the Black Stallion here in
Cincinnati Ohio. I even have their first record which was a 45 . I have had
Duke and Glen on my radio show back when I was in radio here in Cincinnati.
I have also worked a few promotions and have them on video. I am now on the
air via the Internet at trackoneradio.com where we still feature their music
So we know how great the group really is.

Hi Lynn.....

I agree wholeheartedly with what you have said about "our guys"!!,
They are a very wonderful and special band...in that they touch the
hearts of everyone who sees them. Each one of them has a heart large
enough to swallow the earth. I feel that anyone who has an
opportunity to see one of their shows will be left fascinated and
overwhelmed by the experience that leaves you feeling mesmerized for
days after. They truly are the NATION'S #1 ROCK AND ROLL
REVIEW!!!!! And as an added note.....we women love Viagra!! --- In

That's awful, I didn't see the show but I know from what Lynn has
said I will never watch it . I wish I had known the guys were gonna
be on it , I would have watched. You all know as well as I do, we
don't need anyone to tell us how great our guys are. I saw the guys
at the end of September & ashamed to say the first time in quite
awhile but conditions just wouldn't allow it before that. They were
truely incredible just as they were every time I have ever saw them.

Thanks Lynn. I needed to hear this. I was worried about my boys!! At least
they got some exposure and maybe there will be a next year. They sould be
extremely proud to be 1 of 63 out of 1000's. I knew there was probably some TV
editing going on and that can change the whole picture. Thanks for the info.

Love ya,
Pam

   Hey Fan-Dells!

Who needs someone to tell them they are The Next Great American Band
when they are already The Nation's #1 Rock and Roll Review?

For those of you that saw The Next Great American Band premier on
Friday, October 19, you already know what happened. For those of you
that didn't get to watch, this is what was seen on TV...

In the last 20 minutes of the show before going to commercial there
was a brief clip showing what was coming up. The Van-Dells were seen
in this clip as an upcoming band. When it was time for The Van-Dells
to perform there was a very short clip of the performance
(approximately 3-5 seconds). Then the camera cut to the judges. Ian
Dickson made a comment like, "If you have just tuned in, this is
Happy Days the viagra years." (during this time you could hear "Morse
Code of Love" playing softly in the background) The camera cut to the
guys on stage laughing a bit at the comment. Ian Dickson then
said, "Well, I thought that was what the "V" stood for." The camera
then cut to the judges again and they did a mock "DooWop" song
of "Next, next next..." and that was it. Approximately 20 seconds of
   air time.

Here's what REALLY happened..because what happens in Vegas should NOT
   stay in Vegas..

Yes, The Van-Dells submitted a video to The Next Great American Band.
Yes, they were invited to audition. During the communication with the
producers of this show, it was stated repeatedly that they were very
well liked by everyone who had seen The Van-Dells material. The guys
made the trip to Vegas and it was exciting for them and a wonderful
opportunity. We, as fans, can all be very proud of our guys for
making it that far! They were chosen out of literally THOUSANDS of
band that were narrowed down to only 63 invited to audition.

Now, for the audition. The REAL audition. The Van-Dells performed 2 ½
songs for the judges. "Dicko" did make the Happy Days & Viagra
comments. After all, it is TV and he is the "Simon Cowell" of TNGAB.
So, no one was too upset by the tongue in cheek comments. After the
performance and the snide remarks, Ian Dickson had some positive
things to say about The Van-Dells, even inviting them back for
another audition next year. But he felt they weren't right for this
particular show. Fair enough. Sheila E. also had very positive things
to say, including telling our Fabulous Van-Dells that they truly ARE
one of America's greatest bands. (I think we all agree with that!)
But she also felt The Van-Dells were not right for The Next Great
American Band show. John Rzeznik agreed with Ian & Sheila and had
positive things to say. Ian Dickson even made a point to come over to
them, off stage, after their audition to let them know how much he
   enjoyed their performance.

By the way, they were not dismissed by the "Next, next, next" DooWop
song, that was apparently recorded at a later time.

Even though The Van-Dells were not chosen to move onto the next
round, they felt good about the positive comments and were hoping for
a little national television exposure. Of course, that did not happen
and the show was a disappointment.

   That's show biz!

But we all know that they have been around for 34 years for a reason!
The Van-Dells have been performing longer than any other band who
made it out there. I would be willing to bet they have sold more
albums and have more fans than all the bands combined!

They truly are The Nation's #1 Rock and Roll Review!

Hey Fan-Dells!

Who needs someone to tell them they are The Next Great American Band
when they are already The Nation's #1 Rock and Roll Review?

For those of you that saw The Next Great American Band premier on
Friday, October 19, you already know what happened. For those of you
that didn't get to watch, this is what was seen on TV…….

Ian

I agree with Pam - with the bands they chose, who's going to watch
the show? Sometimes I'd just like to slap those folks that pick
those judges. I really wanted to see the Van Dells at least perform
an entire song on National TV. I believe if they had though, and
then not been selected, folks would have called into the show and
asked why in the world they weren't in the top mix.

Obviously great talent is not something they were looking for
though. That was all too obviouus with what we had to endure while
waiting for our band to perform.

Well, I guess I don't need to watch that show anymore.

Mark, you looked great though - what little I saw of you. ;-)

Your brother,
Doug

I also was at that show it was awsome but I missed Paul. It just didn't
seem right to look on that stage & not see him & then to find out he
was not coming back. I have seen many band members come & go but I will
ALWAYS miss Paul. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY "Music Man" hope it will be a great
one. It was GREAT to see Jeff back. With my illness & Gentry's busy
schedule , it was the first time I have saw the guys in a long time.
(about 2 years ) We still miss David but Kasey is doing an awsome job.
John Yost (The King, huh April) will ALWAYS be the our fav. keys
guy...It always makes me sad to see the guys go. I wish them all well.
Take care everyone , hope to see ya at a show soon.

                                           Debbie

Hello friends

I just saw The Vandells tonight. My name is Donna. I live in Parsons,
Tn. a lil small town. I have been a fan of The Vandells for years. I
used to live in Indiana and they came alot to Casino Aztar. I also saw
them in Owensborough, Ky. I moved here to Tn 6 years ago and have
missed seeing them. Well, I nearly fell over when I read in the paper
they were coming here.
They were awesome as usual! I was a bit dissapointed Glen didnt do his
usual Elvis routine. He did do an awesome Neil Diamond though. I took
many pictures. My Hubby bought me a tshirt and a c.d.

Have a good weekend everyone!
