Oο mates ! :)
Just back from the Parisian gig, first leg of the French tour, and I thought
I might drop a line about it.
As you guess, it was great
I won't rattle on about M. Harris charisma or M. Jackson impressive
presence, you know it all, but it was the best audience they ever had,
extremely supportive. M. Harris played with us with his usual good nature -
despite the fleetingly bothersome presence of a guy who would not stop
filming, even after asked politely, but it did not last. Three encores,
ending with a tear-wrenching version of "Beloved" (Maybe it's my
imagination, but despite the festive mood of the evening, it seems to have
gotten to M. Harris who, uncaracteristically from the professional he is,
skipped a line. Can't blame him, this song gets me every time.) I can't
tell the tracklists, but it was less focused on "Judgment", almost turning
into a best-of, with "Darkangel", "Entropy" or "Honour" thrown in.
The venue la Locomotive, where VNV plays everytime recently got a new
sound system so the sound, if a bit loud, was much, much, MUCH better than
usual.
So there, another great concert from a great band (My sixth time I think,
including the legendary Ghent Invitation festival). I still maintain that a
VNV in concert is a greater experience now that the keyboards are live. Had
a chat with the keyboardist borrowed from XP8, a good band itself, who is
just as nice as the two founding members.
Okay, off to bed now ! :)
