his career, and about His views on making movies.
"If I Had A Hammer" 35mm 117 minutes. Chronicles the very last days of
the '60's folk music and the birth of the Beatles in America.
Hello. I'm new here. Nice to find a place where those that like White
Stripes, Raconteurs and Jack White related bands/projects can share
information.
I have the new album. I pre-ordered on that there iTunes, as there
were some bonus tracks. I will, as fans and collectors do, get
a 'hard' copy of the CD too. Just ordered the "Icky Thump 3 item
package from a place I found online. Contains the "Icky Thump" CD
single and A & B versions of the single (A version was included in
NME a week or so ago. I will have to look up the link to the dealer
that I got that from...
Also, lucky enough to score a pair of tickets for the show at the LA
Forum on 19th of September. The ticket receipt from the pre-sale says
GA but then says row 5 seats 205/205. So I am not sure if it's a true
GA situation, like the U2 shows or merely floor seating. Either way,
should be a great show.
Any go to "Icky Thump" (old Tower Records Sunset) last night? Anyone
get tickets to tomorrows Promo show there? Should be amazing - 200
people, up close for a White Stripes show. Awesome! Me? Nope, I
didn't get the tickets for that. And I wish I did!
Icky thump rules. I haven't bought the last two White Stripes records but I
think I'm going to
get the new one. I like the return of Jack's old uniform from the first two
albums. It gives me
a certain nostalgia. I'm kinda bummed they don't stay in Detroit anymore but I
understand
Jack needed to spread his wings and fly.
My band, the Pizazz is releasing our first full length lp, Where have our
Manners Gone. We
have 500 copies and we're all 500 different covers. If anyone wants to
participate and do a
cover I will send you a free cd-r of our music so you can get ideas. We don't
sound anything
like the White Stripes but we have a kid friendly quality that will maybe
appeal.

So what did you think? The non-bass bass line reminded me of "Cradle
Will Rock", I'm not sure if that's a good thing. But it was heavy and
weird, and I like that. Jack seems to be weighing in on U.S.
immigration policy here, I hope track two will tackle the health care
crisis. It would be cool of he were gearing up for a run for the
White House, but he's no where near old enough. Maybe he's going for
a seat in the senate. It's more fun to imagine him as President
though, living in the Red and White House. Handing out candy canes to
heads of state, "now play nice children".
they played it (or rather they played part of it and gave up) in chicago
8/30/05 (i think). they had 3 chicago shows 8/29, 8/30, 8/31 and I'm pretty
sure it was played during the second show. they played gbms straight through
and then came out for the encore. I have all of the chicago bootlegs in
storage but it could probably get it and send an mp3 by monday night. let me
know (off list) if you want me to get it.

Sadly their deal with Warner will undoubtedly preclude them from
offering this album on Emusic.
Hello Children,

North America, SE Asia and Japan on June 19th. You can view the
album's cover art HERE.

Will they play at my house or won't they? I wish they would reply to
my invitation. I wrote it in my own blood as a demonstration of my
sincerity and everything.
Hello All,
With unbridled enthusiasm for the June release of 'Icky Thump',
NME.com has printed a North American tour routing that holds no
semblance of reality. Indeed, it looks like their journalists simply
found and printed the tour routing the band did in support of their
2005 release, 'Get Behind Me Satan'.
In fact, The White Stripes have yet to confirm their North American
routing as of yet. But we are happy to say that it will include all 10
provinces and 3 territories of Canada, as well as the remaining 16
states of the United States the band have yet to play. A few major
markets that have been journeyed to in the past will be also be included.
The North American tour will start in the state of Tennessee.
Best Regards,
The White Stripes Management
Nashville TN is a hell of a lot closer. june 14-17. Bonaroo festival. See you
there.

Not to forget this annoucement, from the official site, on Feb. 28 :
Hello to all the Candy Cane Children in the land,
The White Stripes have completed the recording and mixing of their sixth
album. It is entitled:
"Icky Thump"
and is their first album to include a title track, which curiously (and not
ironically) has the same words in it's name. Though some residents of
northern England might almost recognize the title, The Stripes stress they
are spelling it wrong intentionally just for "kicks" and "metaphors", and to
avoid a possible lawsuit from the estate of Billy Eckstine.
The record was recorded in Nashville at Blackbird Studio. And word around
the sewing circle is that many of your favorite White Stripe type songs may
not be your favorite (pronounced favaright) White Stripe type songs for
long.
Some song titles include:
Catch Hell Blues
Little Cream Soda
Monkeys Have It Easy (discarded)
Rag And Bone
Clicky Bump (retitled into something pleasant)
Blue Orchid (relocated to previous album)
and
You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told)
It was the longest time the delightful duo have ever spent in the studio,
totaling almost three weeks. Jack and Meg were said to have been looking
like they were "into it almost". And even Meg herself was quoted while
leaving a local Nashville laundromat saying that the record was, in her best
estimate; "finished", "musical in nature" and lastly, though slightly
muffled, "good".
The Stripes will be releasing a statement soon saying: "we are doing our
best (whatever that is) to release the album as soon as corporately
possible. And though we are tired, worn, weary, hungry, cold, and left
without an ounce of nutrition amongst ourselves, we are in the midst of
planning performance type shows aroundst the world."
Here now is a short film clip of The Stripes working on a thoroughly rough
and ghastly early version of a track from the new album entitled "I'm Slowly
Turning Into You"... HI | LO (please allow popups to view links)
(the actual music has been replaced with mid eighties sampling keyboard
technology to prevent what industry analysts are now calling "song
poaching")

It looks like Jack and Meg got together on Nigel Godrich's
show
" From The Basement " on Jan 2, 2007 and did a bunch of

tunes. Very intresting. You can download the show from their
