China Blak, signed to NBA Hall of Famer Earl "The Pearl" Monroe's
Reverse Spin Records, is this year's newest star to watch. Born to
Haitian parents, this rapper/singer first made a name for herself
while playing clubs from New York to St. Lucia where she literally
blew the roof off some of the places with her live performance. The
name "China" comes from the closet where her mother kept all her
valued treasures. China says she remembers looking at that closet and
saying to herself "that's where I should be!"

Her new album is slated for release in June 2008. The lead single "Hey
Now" from her forthcoming release has already gained widespread
airplay on R&B, hip-hop, and college radio formats. The B-side
"Brighter Day" is an uplifting R&B groove which showcases China Blak's

Armed with a chameleon-like ability to blend in with her surroundings,
her songs tell the story of love, strength, courage, dreams and
survival. Her tales of despair, the quest for love and pleads for

China Blak believes her purpose on earth is to inspire the world
through music. "Money and stardom are not what `inspires' me. I want
to do music that creates an atmosphere for outbursts of new

and the ugly and set it to music". China Blak's music speaks of
