I notice that he wasn't mentioned here (although he was a major 80's
artist). I think Rick James may have been too "urban" for this group
(even though he started out as a pure Rocker as you will learn). I'm
sure a lot of you know of him more as the subject of jokes or from
the drug problems, or from the Dave Chappelle Show or something else
negative. But this was a real serious musician who had talent. It's a
shame that he likely will not be remembered as such. He'll be
remembered for the drugs and the jokes.

So I just wanted to sneak this onto the message board and i'll be
gone.... (I never post here).


Here's a quick last tribute to Rick James. I wasn't a huge fan
myself, but he was talented. Plus I was bored... I needed a break
from CNN and bad news for a minute.

Here are the songs that you may all know about. This first link also
has some interview segments mixed in. Rick James didn't get along
with Prince very well.... I don't think he liked the idea that Prince
was kicking his butt on & off stage so to speak :). Rick might have
been insecure. He said Prince tried to take over s*** when they
performed together in the late 70's, lol.
