Alice,
Sorry I haven't had a chance to get back in touch. I hope (please God)
to have the page up soon.
Just so you know, the page currently is very text-y (a
web page no-no, I know, but at this stage of its existence I don't know
how to change it). When finished it will consist of basic textual
information on singing (my FAQ section, including where people can go to
get recordings of tradtional singing); biographies of various
traditional singers; a listing of singing festivals and workshops
(although it also includes festivals in which singing is included but
not the main point, like the South Sligo Summer School), a listing of
singer sessions, and a short bibliography for further reading. These
entries will have links to other web sites when appropriate. Not
perfect, but I hope a good beginning.
As for when it will go live, I was going to delay "publishing" until I
had completed the biography section (which I have not yet started).
However if that section (which may be lengthy) progresses at the same
rate as the rest of the page has taken me to date, it could take me well
into next year to finish. Given the somewhat date sensitive material on
the page (e.g., 2003 dates for various festivals and irregularl singing
sessions), I think that will not help anyone. Therefore I will
probably launch soon with a note that the biography section is "under
construction."
I will probably drop a note to the list when I am ready to launch
(probably in the next week or so). I'd appreciate any constructive
criticism, if you are so kind. BTW, I want to thank you for the links to
sound files you've already passed on. If there are others, I'd be
interested in hearing.
Thanks for your help.
