Re: [Trombonists Anonymous] Kind of new to this group; allow me to introduce myself

Hi Roger,

It was all going so well until you mentioned the liederhosen!!

(Only kidding)...

Glad to hear you still keep up the trombone...I also play a lot of Tuba - but
not so much Eupho these days....my fingers can't keep up with my brain....well,
I am nearly 41..

Anyay, nice to have you on board....if you can see past all the 'fake' members
offering remortgage advice and personal loans, i think you'll find us a friendly
bunch..

David - Bass Trombone Brighton, England..

Let me introduce myself somewhat.

My name is Roger E. Anderson. I started playing trombone in the 5th
grade (my first band director was a retired bass trombonist with Karl
King's touring band). I played all the way through high school. As
I got to the end of the 12th grade, I was planning on majoring in
writing in college, the local community college band director offered
me a full scholarship to major in music. I said "Okay."

I eventually graduated from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ
with a degree in instrumental conducting and music education.
Nowdays, I'm working on a DMA in Music Education.

I taught high school marching band for 11 years and now teach 4th-8th
grade band in Scottsdale, AZ. I also am the new assistant director
with a local community college community band.

Somewhere along the line, I switched from trombone to euphonium and
then to tuba. But I still make more money freelance as a trombonist
than any of the others (except maybe during the German food festival
months -- you know liederhosen and beer).

It's good to run across a list of trombone players who are closer
than the next ITA convention.

Roger E. A.
