Friends everywhere,
Here's info on 2 upcoming concerts you might enjoy knowing about...
This Saturday night, I'll be guest conducting the Caltech Wind Ensemble
in a performance of my band composition Rejoice!.. Rejoice! continues to
get numerous performances around the nation, for which I'm very
grateful. Also on the program are works by Leonard Bernstein, Bruce
Lofgren, Howard Hanson and 3 works by Stanley Friedman. Here's the
scoop, in case you'll be in the area: Sat. Feb. 17, 7:30 p.m. Thorne
Hall, Occidental College, 1600 Campus Road, Eagle Rock (Los Angeles),
California.
Then on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 18 at 3 p.m., I'll be conducting the
Ventura British Brass in their Winter concert in the sanctuary of
Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2304 Antonio Dr. Camarillo, CA 93010 2304
Antonio Dr. Camarillo, CA 93010 2304 Antonio Dr. Camarillo, CA 93010
2304 Antonio Dr. Camarillo, CA 93010 2304 Antonio Dr. Camarillo, CA
93010. And what a great program! Come hear Rodrigo's deeply moving
Concerto de Aranjuez (of "Brassed Off!" fame), featuring our Solo
Cornetist Randy Jones, a Rondo by Mozart, played from memory by our
Euphonium soloist John Robinson, the fanciful Frolic for Trombones,
which features our frightfully frolicsome trombone section, and a medley
of James Bond themes, of course! And that's not all,--there's plenty
more good brass band music. [ http://www.tromba.us/vbb/index.htm ]
You're invited!
Best,
Ray Burkhart
