I think your wet/dry mix and other settings are largely a matter of taste. Your send level should be hot enough to give you a strong signal, but not so strong...

Its a Hughes & Kettner Duotone. Very rich sounding, however, the eq does not have a very full range. So I think you are right, the TF should work perfectly....
