iplayer in the UK allows you to download and watch for a limited period.
Jeff Lynne,is a rather loud,comedian type,who is in control,maybe not on
the Whistle Test clip on Youtube. The image we are given of the artist is
a reclusive,serious and angelic.When infact,he could probably set the
benchmark for some of today wild rockers.
It is sad because instead of having a serious fan and artist
relationship, like they do with Genesis,Marrilion, etc we have to speak to
Jeff through a medium. Being able to say "Hey Jeff" you working on a new
album? Is far more exciting then being told "Jeff is always busy" The
ELO fabs are treated like children, just like Jeff is,and god forbid we
should ever be able to communicate.
Most of us were ELO fans long before email was invented, yet we almost
knew more then than we do now.
Then is 1986,the door slams shut and ELO became a secret society, the
fans and the artist probably never asked for that but that is what
happened.
So YOUTUBE has opened a vault up,that kills off the sterile image and
actually allows the real Jeff Lynne to breath and be seen and heard as
he really is.
We have the remasters etc which is great but if we want more Jeff
Lynne,we have to go direct.
Maybe if Mr Jeff, ran a list rather than, some company, who own the
copyright.
I mean no offence to anyone, everyone does a great job, more could be
done.None of us are getting younger lol but as I said if Marrillion and
Genesis can do it,why not? A free independent, copyright respecting
group, could do more. We could get downloads at the new AAC PLUS like on
itunes or higher,if it is the only way.
But youtube has shown us the way and we should build on that, imagine
Jeff, with his own channel, doing his own thing? But this 'you must never
go beyond the curtain,is a bit daft and I believe it makes Jeff and us
fans,seem like fools.
Happy New Year
Simon,Highlands (Got my flame suit on) ;)
I understand why Orchestra, have done well, they invest in the fans.
