It's time to make Bluesguy's Birthday Jam #5, and SOUTH BY DUE EAST 2005 happen. For those who are new -
Bluesguy's Birthday Jam is my annual birthday party, where The New Jack Hippies jam for a few hours with many of our talented friends, all for fun, the recording machines, and the video cameras. In the past, this event has been held at Dan Electro's Guitar Bar, 2 at earthwire.net (defunct groundbreaking internet radio station and performing space), and at Joe's Roadhouse live at The Rhythm Room on KPFT-FM. Therefore, we have lots of footage from dark bars and earthwire.net, and they look very similar - so - I was thinking about bhaving it at my house this year, in the back yard by the bayou. What do you think?
SOUTH BY DUE EAST (MArlo Blue's Guerilla Marketing Experiment), is where we gather for a couple/few days and original bands, musicians and performing artists perform for each other and whomever shows up, and make films which can be spread out into the world through various media outlets. SOUTH BY DUE EAST performances have been seen on the web, and on access channels across america. We need to pick this year's venue, find this year's artists, and promote like hell! Raul, Mike McGuire, Roger Tausz, Mike Farber, Marlo and I will supply the cameras, recording gear, drive space and videotape. Who's in? Who's got ideas?
Also - The New Jack Hippies do road dates in the spring and fall this year. We're looking for musicians who want to travel.
