This evening, the owner of the Meridian (Robert Fuldauer) stated that U were involved with a scuffle in response to missing instruments..... along with an e-mail trashing Bob.  I have known U for the past few months, and it seems that the Meridian will turn anything New Jack Hippies-related away @ the front door.

I sincerely apologize for the late e-mail; by now, the pics from the backyard party might have been located.  I did not know about the 'mystery incident' in question until this evening

Thanks for your effort, Don!

And thanks for the pics of the Birthday Jam! They rock!

I never (specifically) trashed Bob in that email. Didn't even know him or his name at that time. I trashed promoters who didn't pay their musical acts and attempted to get the police to do their dirty work.

I was not actually involved in that police incident - I filmed it (it did make Bob look like a terrible person - on that night, he was!), and was a witness. There wasn't any actual scuffle, or stolen gear, but I did make a film about Bob bearing false witness against a musician while trying to get the police to arrest 'Ickoo' of The Brio Kids for stealing gear.

So - now he holds that grudge against me. Oh well - I've survived worse!

I just happened to be there with one promoter's permission to document the event with a camera. I didn't know The Brio Kids. But I wanted to meet them after their great performance, so I followed them as they loaded out, until I heard one big, loud guy screaming that THEY had stolen equipment. That was Bob.

When the night was over, the promoters were having a hard time with the performers, who were angry that the promoters had decided not to pay any of the musicians. The Brio Kids played last, so they were the only musicians left when the cops came.

I had seen several musicians being treated poorly, so I kept my cameras rolling while Bob tried to give false witness to the police (who now had Ickoo in the police car). I told the police that Bob and the promoters were trying to falsely accuse musicians to avoid paying them, and kept my camera rolling.

Now, Bob was on camera, and I told the police that the musicians did nothing wrong. Bob insisted that they did, but also insisted that he was only the 'building guy', and as such, he knew nothing and was not a part of this. But he kept telling police that this innocent kid had stolen stuff.

There was no stolen gear.

The police eventually realised this, and let Spencer ('Ickoo') out of the police car and uncuffed him. I'd never seen that before.

It wasn't an incident revolving around stolen gear, it was a bunch of middle aged promoters (including Bob), trying to trump up charges against local musicians to ease their guilt and any community perception of their guilt over stiffing the bands out of their money at the end of the night.

So - in that email the next morning, I told of the incident the night before and encouraged musicians to show up and play the next two nights of that festival anyway (for the sake of any fans who show up to hear us), even though we probably wouldn't get paid, either. I say WE, because Guy Schwartz & The New Jack Hippies were on the coming nights' bill, too!

I did more than send an email. The film is up at www.hippies.tv, and has run on Houston Media-Source.

Come let me show you the film and/or raw footage. It doesn't lie.

When I sent that letter, many of my subscribers wrote back to tell me that the man was Bob Fuldauer, formerly of THE GARDEN IN THE HEIGHTS, and recanted their personal past nightmare stories about Bob.

So, now Bob Fuldauer is bearing false witness against us New Jack Hippies. I'm a little surprised but not much, given the lack of character he displayed on that night.

I hope that he did not intimate that I had anything to do with stolen instruments.

Bob is obviously a guy with a lot of emotional problems. He was the only one to call and complain to the MUSIC NEWS about my picture being on the cover last month. He should get a life! He should also support local musicians, even when it hurts his dishonest promoters (most Meridian promoters are good people, too).

Musicians should know about the people they are forced to trust in order to gig around town, so I won't be backing down on this one.
