Hippies.TV
Tonight & Every Friday Night
420 Tonight & Kinney Abair Next Friday!
----------
Hippies.TV features this year's 420 Fest at The Last Concert Cafe, and stars Ed Rosenthal, Hightailers, Mark May & The Agitators, Dean Becker, Slapshifter, and a whole bunch of Houston hippies (including those of the 'New Jack' variety).
On Friday night the 17th, there will be a special Hippies.TV episode featuring my friend and mentor, Kinney Abair. It's from a performance that he, Jimbeaux and I did on The Hour Of Truth & Texas Music at earthwire.net, and was possibly his last recorded performance.
Although I'm busy at the movie-editing machine, we're getting out more - both as listeners and performers - and I'm looking forward to a bunch of great events in the next couple weeks.
Tonight, my plan is to bring a couple posters out to JP Hops House (where we'll play next Saturday), and listen to some tunes at the Texas Songwriter's Showcase there, featuring T.C. Smythe & Gary Taylor, Dan Crossland, and Michael Pope. Then it's off to Cosmos to rock with The Mighty Orq followed by Leonard LowDown Brown at The Big Easy for closing time.
BTW - At The Big Easy jam on Wednesday, Jimmy Rose brought in his brand new ("bought them six hours ago!") set of SONOR drums for all the drummers to enjoy! The kit sounded great, and made each of those drummers sound better than ever! Jimmy said that he wanted to share the new drums with the community, but it was a one-time thing. The sparkly old Ludwigs will be back next week!
Tomorrow, Saturday, Roger is with Tracy Conover at Bojangle's in Seabrook, where we played last week. It was a spacious comfortable room for music, and we had a great time (with Randy Wall, Opie Hendrix and Stephen Avery in the band).
Sunday is Richard Greisser's 50th birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY RICHARD!
Tuesday night, WilSpace has put together PARTICLE and SPOONFED TRIBE at the Meridian. Should be a very cool show! Check out Wil's new site overhaul for the THC series at http://www.texashouseconcerts.com
On Wednesday the 15th, Opie Hendrix will celebrate his birthday at The Continental Club. The Texas Tallboys will perform at 10, with Carrie Ann & the Apocolyptics opening up at 9.
The New Jack Hippies will perform at J.P. Hops House on Hwy 6 next Saturday night, June 18th. Thanks to Opie Hendrix for hooking us up with Jim & Pam Fowler for this show.

LeAnne Romano Bell R.I.P.
From Wrecks Bell
Wrecks sent this to his list,
and it was more eloquent than anything I could add.

May she rest in peace.
The Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe will be closed
indefinitely after the passing of my beautiful
wife. She was the light of my day, and the
corner stone of my life. I want her back so
badly that I would open up a wound to let
her in. But that is not to be.
I apologize to all the musical acts that are
currently booked, but I know you will understand.
I don't know how long I will be closed. I promise
all my fans, friends, and customers that have
supported us for the last 9 years that I will re open
the OQAC, if I can somewhere find the strength,
and somehow not die from a broken heart.
thanks. Wrecks
