*HIPPIES.TV - SPOONFED TRIBE
Tonight's Hippies.TV show features SPOONFED TRIBE, and airs on Warner Cable Channel 17 at 10pm on Fridays!
Guy Schwartz & the
New Jack Hippies will open the show for a hard-rockin band from London, The Thieves, at Dan Electro's Guitar Bar in the Houston Heights on Sunday (11.20). In the press, The Thieves have been compared to everyone from The Who to Pink Floyd. I don't know about that, but I do know that THE THIEVES ROCK!!
Bluesrockin' guitarist Tracy Conover & hill country songstress Kim Miller have been added to the 'Biily Block's Western Beat/Houston' show on December 2nd! Wow! What a show that's turning into! Billy's beginning to hear from old houston pals, and I'm starting to hear from old friends planning to fly in.

Fertitta and McClintock
At JP Hops House
----------
I like stories about fellow musicians who have stayed active. Sometimes, if you stay with it long enough, some of the old music might come back around and have another chance at a life of it’s own.
Randy Soffar and I have recently been contacted about international distribution of the Z-Rocks album – 25 years later! Fertitta and McClintock go back even further…
David Fertitta and Steven McClintock are two high school buddies from Beaumont who played around Houston in the ‘70s, before moving to Los Angeles and scoring an Island Music publishing deal, and a big-time producer, and the big record deal
with Clive Davis at Arista Records. Unfortunately, the record business took a dramatic musical change into disco followed immediately by punk (then new wave) leaving Davis and the producers at odds as to what direction to take the talented acoustic balladeers. The record was never released.
The duet ended and both went on different musical paths collectively writing songs for movies and TV, commercial jingles and many other recording acts, including Juice Newton, Lorrie Morgan, Sixwire, Andy Williams, Tiffany, ATC, David Pomeranzt, Victoria Shaw, Pat Boone, Diamond Rio, Paul Jefferson, Rose Maddox and dozens of foreign releases.
Advance ahead 25 years to a chance meeting between the duo and their former producer Fred Mollin in Nashville at a Canadian industry event. Fred, having gone on to produce America , Eddie Money, Jimmy Webb, Kris Kristofferson (to name only a few), offered to finish the record that was never released. Recording 14 songs in Nashville with some of the finest musicians alive, selling out their first three shows in Los Angeles and basically continuing where they left off, this talented vocal duo is primed and ready to finish the job they started back in 1975.
Fertitta and McClintock’s first performance in Houston since 1975 will be at JP Hops House on November 19th. JP Hops House located at 2317 South Hwy 6.
