Here's a cool one!
I don't remember whether I've told you the story about the gas station in the desert, but as best as I can remember it...
I was west driving thru the mohave desert when I spotted a familiar sight way off to the right in my periphery. You've seen it, too, in the movies and on TV. It's that gas station in the middle of the desert that our hero has found himself as he runs towards or away from some conflict of the inner-soul, personailies, or some kind of alien... A gas station with nothing but desert and mountains to either side - in the middle of NOWHERE!
I jumped off the freeway and found country roads and looped around until I eventually found the place. In the
movies, they always spruce it up with paint and lights, but it was just boarded up for me. Didn't matter. I had to use this site for some video. Hmmm... - what to do? So I wrote a song and recorded a video for it. I just shuffled thru the ruff music beds we had recorded until I found this shuffle with the horns - then turned the camera on and started singing... BTW - when you see me laying on the desert floor....
I saw a cool place for that shot on my way out. While laying there with the camera going, I saw the first vehicle I had seen on these roads in 2 hours. It was an crusty old brown panel truck with the words 'Desert Pest Control' and a cartooney scorpion drawn to look scary. Worked for me! I jumped off the the desert floor, checked my perimeter for scorpions, and got the heck out of Dodge and down the highway towards LA!
