I'm home in Houston today, but my heart is somewhere else.
There's a benefit for Buck Jones' family in his adopted home town of Nashville tonight (Wed. May 23, 2007), at the Exit/In at 6pm starring Grammy winner Jim Lauderdale, Nashville Star's Chris Young, Jason Meadows & Lance Miller, Buck’s co-producers Walt Wilkins, Billy Block & Tim Lorsch, the Big Happy, Davis Raines, Jubal Lee Young and Buck’s band members Jon Byrd, Michael Jeffers, Mike Daly, Milan Miller and a lot more. I can't be there. If you are in Nashville, you still can!
Up and coming country star Buck Jones was a talented, warm hearted, generous soul who was tragically killed by a drunk driver on March 17, 2007 on a Texas highway.
Buck left behind a beautiful wife, Amy-Beth Jones and a 7 month old son, Walker Dylan as well as a stunned Country music community in Nashville and Texas.
Roger, & I were fortunate to have known Buck in Nashville for a half dozen years, and (along with Leesa or Billy) played several dates with him at Billy Block's Western Beat there and in Houston and on the road in Texas.
I started editing the SOUTH BY DUE EAST 2007 HipHop/Poetry show for Hippies.TV today, but found myself sidetracked and thinking about not going to Nashville, so I thought about Buck while I put together some Buck Jones road footage we shot while touring Texas last fall. Next, I synched it to his single, 'You Only Call Me When You're Drunk' (featuring Lauderdale on harmony vocals), added information about the Buck Jones Memorial Fund, and posted it on YouTube.com

A Memorial Fund has been set up to benefit Buck's wife Amy Beth and their son Walker Dylan.

Donate something for his son's future, or just send a link and help spread his music and his voice.
Buck deserves that.
I just did, and it feels good.
