I'm really jazzed today!

It's been a good time, lately. It's been time to start playing music again!

We're playing at the Last Concert Cafe tonight (28FRI).

We're showing a short film, too!

It'll be our smaller  rhythm section with horns - the way we recorded most of this next CD. We'll begin playing around 11pm, with a band called Odd Toddler beginning around 9pm. I enjoyed the music on Odd Toddler's Myspace page. They have an interesting acoustic-based sound.

Roger and I actually rehearsed last night (we do that every 4-6 years - whether we need to or not), and determined that we could try a half dozen of the new songs for the first time with the band tonight. Watch out for 'Joe's New Car'!

I've just finished the final episode of this season's Hippies.TV program. Watching all of these great local/regional artists as I edit is inspiring - AND I learn their songs in the process! How cool is that. I'm now very well prepared to sit-in with a lot of artists! <g>

I've also been connecting with many regional musicians in a new way, too, as I have been practically living on the road while right here in Houston. My newest project has had me driving 100-200 miles to our surrounding townships and cities every night to hear, shoot and play music.

You see...

I got a wild hair to put together a film about ALL of the jams and open mics around the greater metropolitan Houston area. I think I told you about the genesis of that idea in another letter a few weeks ago.

On the weekend before Labor Day, I figured I could compile a list of locations and times from the usual magazine's and The BluesHound's list, set out my route, and hit all 8 Sunday sessions in one day (and maybe even have time to jam - but, by the time I was thru with that, the jammers had turned me on to another 3 or 4 jams. This was obviously gonna take a few weeks longer than I had anticipated, so I set my sights further down the road and concentrated on the larger picture!  I'm up to around 100 now. I had no idea that there would be over a dozen places to play on a Tuesday... or a Monday... But there are!

Mikey is going to try to hook up a big screen video to play this Sunday jam segment at our show tonight at The Last Concert Cafe - during our break around 12 or 12:30. It's a little risky, but if the film doesn't make the screening (it's the first time we've tried this), and you came early and paid the cover, you are more than welcome to ask me for a refund while still at the venue. And then - you still got to party with us and hear the band!

I'll be placing a lot of this season's Hippies.TV episodes AND several new performances from SOUTH BY DUE EAST 2007 onto the web next week, so I'll put the links up at www.hippies.tv and www.southbydueeast.com.

Thanks for your support!

DOWNLOADS - CHEAP!
----------
CD Baby has added the ability to sell our CDs in downloadable form right from our CD Baby pages. The cool thing about this is that we can set our own price, something I can't do at I-Tunes, Best Buy, or Wal-Mart.
So - ALL of our albums will be downloadable for $3 each (the whole album) on CDbaby ( www.cdbaby.com ) this month only, to celebrate!
