FREE PRESS HOUSTON PARTY
Super Happy Fun Land - Saturday Night!
3801 Polk
----------
One event to tell you about this weekend. The Free Press Houston is celebrating it's 5th with a great party Saturday night at the brand new Super Happy Fun Land with musical performances by Sideshow Tramps (Medicine Show), Studemont Project, Ceeplus, Bad Knives, Piano Vines, H-Town Zillionaires - as well as a rare appearance by The Free Press Houston Clutch-time Orchestra! Should be a blast!

The new SHFL has been open less than a month, but has carried on their tradition of cool shows filled with large bills full of musically interesting artists of all varieties.

Free Press Houston is a local institution which deserves support by all of you! Get out there and slap a bunch of Omar's (real, perceived and metaphorical) on the back and tell 'em what a great job they are doing!

REPORT FROM THE BACK YARD
(Slight Return...)
----------
My birthday party was great! All of the musicians played well, none of the food burned, all of the cameras and recorders worked fine...

Big thanks to MArlo, who shook off the urge to play house and hostess just enough to direct a pretty good bunch of footage of the performances! Yea, MArlo!

Thanks to Roger & Mikey, who showed up early and helped put gear together long before it was noon. Pamela Nolin and Dennis Benton did fine work on cameras, too! Dennis used the new jib crane. We had asked him to figure out how many beers it took before crane operations were hampered. There will be long, long days at SOUTH BY DUE EAST 2008 next month, and these are the questions we need to know!

BTW - schedules for SOUTH BY DUE EAST have been posted at www.myspace.com/southbydueeast and www.southbydueeast.com/event.html

Thanks to Randy Soffar for handling the world wide webcast, too! Randy and I may have a Z-Rocks reunion with Billy Block at SOUTH BY DUE EAST 2008. I'll keep you posted...

One of the coolest moments was when my daughter Chelsea called and said she was watching us party - live on the internet from her apartment in West Hollywood. Everyone there went "ooh" and "ahh"! Thanks, Chelsea! I love you!

And - I love all of you who came out and partied hard. Thanks for all the great gifts, too! The first ruff edited footage from the party will up before the weekend is over, and I'll give it the location www.bluesguy.com/bbj8firstruff.wmv - try that on Sunday or Monday!

I'll give you a better essay on the Birthday Jam, as well as all of the other jams and open mic on the last leg of the imaginary tour when I write next!
