2 NEW TV SERIES THIS FALL
While we're working, MArlo and I have a docu-concert film about Leonard Cohen running in the background. It's called 'Leonard Cohen-I'm Your Man'. What a great songwriter!
We're beginning to feel settled at home again, after two months of touring and another month of displacement after Hurricane Ike. Ike changed our schedule, priorities and deadlines, and we (you & I) have a lot to get caught up on. This letter is mostly about that.
I'm home now, and available for all of the things I do - so please call!
832-622-2295
I'll be here in Texas, working on SOUTH BY DUE EAST 2009, the TV shows, and playing some music, until late March, so please help me with these - and fit me into your project, too!

GUY SCHWARTZ' ROAD JOURNAL -
LIVE MUSIC FROM THE ROAD
Guerilla Performances and Hotel Room fun!
----------
Many of my Houston/Galveston area friends did not have power when I first sent this out, so...
18 installments of my road journal, featuring MArlo and my adventures this past August/September, are viewable online - including spontaneous musical video performances from Gurf Morlix, Levon Louis, Steven Dall, Stephen 'Howler' Foster, The Toilet Bugz, Parker Dulaney, Lizzie & Ruel, and many more as I travelled 22 states and 2 Canadian Provinces looking for music.
They are all up at my video section on www.stickam.com/bluesguy in their roughest form - and a few are edited and already up at www.youtube.com/siriushippies with more to come. These will make up the content of one of our new TV series this fall, and I'll try to write about each road adventure before the episode airs. More about that below!

SOUTH BY DUE EAST 2009
Looking For Great Houston Artists...
----------
...and a few good road bands coming thru on the way from SXSW.
It's time to check out the new! I'm looking for recommendations!
I can't be everywhere and hear everyone, but I'm looking for artists who are worth adding to this great archive we're building. Have you heard anyone worth listening to on our compilation CDs, as well as worth watching on our TV shows and internet films?
Every year, MArlo Blue and I host a 3-4 day movie shoot, set up like a small free music festival, where we videotape and multi-track record a whole bunch of original musical artists and a dozen local comedians for our internet and cable-access series and films.
We call it 'MArlo Blue & Guy Schwartz' Guerilla Marketing Experiment'. The idea behind the original film was that if someone goes to the web to see one band in our film, they would be exposed to the others as well. Everyone would get a shot at everyone elses audience - an audience already qued into local music of some sort.
It was MArlo's original idea. Co-conspirators like Mikey Farber, DJ Woo, Mike McGuire and M. Martin helped make that first year successful. As you might see on the credits to our latest films, our volunteer list and grown and changed, and we love our volunteers.
This season, with 4 shows to go, SOUTH BY DUE EAST TELEVISION has featured 13 new hour-long programs with over 75 artists and comedians.

We try to feature lots of new artists each year - so your recommendations are important. They always have been!
Also - if you know any great bands from our Houston past, who have been getting together to play a bit again. Send 'em our way, too! This archive is open to that, too!

NEW CDs NEXT WEEK

I was preparing two new CDs for release on CDbaby, i-Tunes and the rest. I realized that if there were a few more dollars in sales at CD baby, I wouldn't have to send them a check, for the new CDs, so I went into my account and set a few of my old CDs to $1 and bought 'em from myself.
Then I decided I'd leave all four (including two double-CDs) up there for a buck all weekend for you guys on my newsletter list. I'll change 'em on Monday or Tuesday, but this is a cheap time to get 4 of my most popular CDs ever.
Z-ROCKS - HISTORY (double CD retrospective)
RELAYER - Release & Revisit (double CD retrospective)
HOMEGROWN COLLECTIVE - The Weed CD
BLUE JACK HIPPIES - my first all-blues studio CD
I created a special one dollar page at cdbaby -

NEW CDs NEXT WEEK
One of Mine - One a Gospel Album
----------
It gets even wierder than that!
The gospel album is by Don Walsh of Rusted Shut! I'll tell you more about that next time - when it's available!
My new CD is called 'Chameleon v3.5',. It's a studio album with new songs played mostly by the three piece rhythm section (Roger & I with Leesa, Mickey or John on drums) with little or no embellishment. Guest shots by Travis Bettis, Randy Wall, Mandy Smith and MArlo Blue. It's not cut from one particular genre, either. Since I'm halfway through with four CDs with specific genres (rock, blues, acoustic, funk), I chose my faves from all of these sessions for this CD.
I like it!
I've had it done since SOUTH BY DUE EAST 2008, and we had a few copies there and on the road - but now it's time to play it for the rest of the world.
