LIVE MUSIC FROM THE ROAD
Guerilla Performances and Hotel Room fun!
----------
Episodes of our new musical reality TV series, GUY SCHWARTZ' ROAD JOURNAL, featuring MArlo and my adventures this past August/September, are viewable online - including spontaneous musical video performances from Patrick Brink, Gurf Morlix, Levon Louis, Steven Dall, Stephen 'Howler' Foster, The Toilet Bugz, Parker Dulany, Lizzie & Ruel, and many more as I travelled 22 states and 2 Canadian Provinces looking for spontaeneous music.

The first three are up at www.hippies.tv with more to come.

SOUTH BY DUE EAST 2009
Looking For Great Houston Artists...
----------
...and a few good road bands coming thru on the way from  SXSW.

It's time to check out the new! I'm looking for recommendations!

I can't be everywhere and hear everyone, but I'm looking for artists who are worth adding to this great archive we're building. Have you heard anyone that would be worth listening to on our compilation CDs, as well as worth watching on our TV shows and internet films?

Every year, MArlo Blue and I host a 3-4 day movie shoot, set up like a small free music festival, where we videotape and multi-track record a whole bunch of original musical artists and a dozen local comedians for our internet and cable-access series and films.

We call it 'MArlo Blue & Guy Schwartz' Guerilla Marketing Experiment'. The idea behind the original film was that if someone goes to the web to see one band in our film, they would be exposed to the others as well. Everyone would get a shot at everyone else's audience - an audience already qued into local music of some sort.

It was MArlo's original idea. Co-conspirators like Mikey Farber, DJ Woo, Mike McGuire, DJ Freedom Justice and M. Martin helped make that first year successful. As you might see on the credits to our latest films, our volunteer list and grown and changed. We love our volunteers.

Last season, SOUTH BY DUE EAST TELEVISION featured 13 new hour-long programs with over 75 artists and comedians.

tv.southbydueeast. com
www.hippies. tv
youtube.com/ siriushippies

We try to feature lots of new artists each year - so your recommendations are important. They always have been!

Also - if you know any great bands from our Houston past, who have been getting together to play a bit again. Send 'em our way, too! This archive is open to that, too!

OH - also -

We're scouting locations, too!

There are two reasons we may stay at Dan Electro's again!

1. Mel Belle
2. Bob

We love these guys, and we love Dan Electro's vibe and layout, and odds are at least 50-50 we'll be there again this year, but SOUTH BY DUE EAST was always meant to move around, expose different live music venues and change scenery and the look for our films. This year, we're close to broke, and can't afford to dress up the stage to make it look different. Different stages would need no dressing to look different, so we have to check out our options! We've already got the gear ready to go, but no new gadgets this year (without new contributors and/or donations).

If you know a suitable venue, start suggesting. We need at least two stages, with an indoor area that will hold EVERYONE inside if it rains.

But The Bands Get Paid - COOL!
----------
Two of Chelsea's bands are giving their albums away for free!

Jetboy & The Vacation are giving out music completely for free, thanks to this company called trueAnthem that hooked them up with a major advertiser. So when a fan downloads the tracks, the advertiser pays the artists. So fans still get the music free and the bands still get to make a living off their music!!!

Chelsea has hooked me up, too, and the fine folks at TrueAnthem are setting me up, as well!

The Vacation are being sponsored by Playboy.
Jetboy are being sponsored by Orange County Choppers.
