LARRY'S STOLEN GEAR
NEW SHORTS!
BLUESGUY'S BIRTHDAY JAM #9
SOUTH BY DUE EAST 2009
WEEKEND MUSIC CALENDAR

I wasn't planning to write today, but one of my friends has had some gear stolen - and it's important to get the word out fast.

I was planning to write later this week. I'll try to remember all I have to say in this letter, for the sake of ya'll's inboxes. I know that many of you may be thrilled that I could add to your inbox twice this week, and I appreciate your readership! And then again, some may be not so thrilled if I need to write again on Thursday or Friday. So be it! My apologies, or thanks (or 'You're Welcome')!

Larry Evans lost a couple great basses and a laptop, when a couple guys (who had been knocking on neighborhood doors to do Hurricane Ike repairs) broke in an took the gear. Larry's a great guy, and a superb bassist you may have heard with Texas Johnny Brown, Mojofromopolis,  or many other bands in the past (Earl Gillam, Big Easy Jam House Band, Sisyers Morales, Brad Absher).

Fortunately, Larry's neighbors hollered out and the bad guys dropped what they were carrying and split. They took all ID and plates off of the truck, so we're hoping that someone used their services and got some contact info while they were working in Larry's neighborhood.

The basses are -

62 Reissue Jazz Bass - Fiesta Red (looks kinda orange) with autographs by B.B. King,Gatemouth Brown,George Clinton, and George Porter. The Jazz has a rosewood fretboard.

MusicMan Sting Ray - Black with white pick guard. The Musicman has 1 volume and two tone controls, unlike the later ones which are one volume, three tones. Maple neck.

In addition, an orange Arbor Explorer bass (with the words "badass" and "blues" written on the back) is also missing.

Larry doesn't have his serial numbers, but will try to find them. If you don't have your serial numbers - write ém down or video tape 'em for security's sake! If you have no way to do it, I'll gladly bring a camera over to put your gear on videotape - cheap! Say $20! Just sayin'...

Please forward this info to all musicians, pawn shops, and music stores you know.

As I said, I've been too busy to write a lot lately.

After putting out the call that we needed work - I've done a few video jobs for bucks, and I give my thanks to Tom Loud & Caravan Seria Productions for hiring me for their projects. Thanks to Charlie Watkins and The Tavern on Gray for hiring MArlo and I (Sirius Hippies Productions) for their video work, too.

We've also kicked into all of the clerical and phone work it takes to put together our winter events in Houston - SOUTH BY DUE EAST 2009 and my BluesGuy's Birthday Jam #9.

It's two days before my birthday, and one day after Rock Romano (the Valentine's birthday boy) - so we'll both be there to play, with the New Jack Hippies and Chango Man, too!

HIPPIES.TV SHORTS
Online Now! 3-7 minutes each!
----------
There are a bunch of new shorts at www.Hippies.TV, with more to come soon! I've created three new series of shorts -

TEACH THE BAND A SONG - the portion of SOUTH BY DUE EAST where bandleaders, singer/songwriters and other friends teach The New Jack Hippies a song onstage in front of the cameras!

MADE UP ON THE SPOT - I just love when I'm performing onstage or online (or back in the hotel room) with the band or alone, and a song just pops up - made up on the spot! Watch it happen on these lucky clips when the camera was rolling at the moment of creation!

They're all online at www.Hippies.TV

THE CELLAR CLUB
Reunion - February 27-28 in Fort Worth
----------
I'll be thrilled to perform with my old mates Mickey Burton & John Bradford at The Cellar Club reunion in Fort Worth on Feb.28. It's a two day event featuring lots of great musicians from the four Cellar Clubs (Dallas, Ft. Worth, Houston, SA), circa 1958-1974, including Rusty Burns, Michael Harrison, Bugs Henderson and a slew of others.

I'll tell you more as sson as I know more...
