WONDERLAND ON THE GREEN*HIPPIES.TV SEASON PREMIERE*   Message List

Hi, ya'll!

So - I'm wondering if and how I'm going to adjust to being a normal human being.

I know I haven't written since SOUTH BY DUE EAST 2009. Sorry about that!

Part of the reason I haven't written in a while is explained herein.

Tonight I want to write, to tell you that Season 7 of Hippies.TV premieres tonight with an episode shot at THE FREE PRESS HOUSTON Westhiemer Block Party in late March. It features a lot of bands I had never met or heard of until that day. New music! Way to go, Omar!

I'm excited about the shows lined up for this season. Birthday Jam with Chango Man, Little Joe Washington & Rock Romano, The Cellar Club 50th Reunion with Bugs Henderson, Point Plank, Dead Pyrates Society and more, and The New Jack Hippies 4-day adventure at SOUTH BY DUE EAST (to name a few). I'm finishing a short film as I write, about Carolyn Wonderland and The Mighty Orq playing at Discovery Green yesterday. That was fun and the video looks great! I'll have it on YouTube by tomorrow (www.youtube.com/siriushippies), maybe tonight

I've got my own new music - and the reviews have been great - but I'll tell you about that next time.

Part of the reason I always gave, when asked how or why I was soooo prolific, was that I am a damaged man with post traumatic stress who only gets an hour or two of sleep per night, and therefore, I had an extra 40 hours or so every week to give to my art. 2200 extra hours per year. I love my work, so I work a lot! And that's how I became a guy with 2000 songs, 44 (top secret) albums and CDs, 5 feature length films and over 100 short films & TV episodes in my catalog.

Well - I'm not superman any more.

The blood pressure medicine seems to work, and will probably add years to my life, but I've begun sleeping 7-9 hours each night. I've NEVER done that before.

I started taking the medicine right before my summer tour last year. Touring has a schedule and routine all it's own, and doesn't necessarily include much production work, so I never noticed the change.

As I began to produce stuff upon my return, and also began to get behind on personal music projects in leiu of the projects I was taking on, and I figured it was due to other things. The tour had been tough and expensive with gas over $4, we got home on the day of Hurricane Ike and had no power and lost a month, we lost everything in the stock market and didn't have our own internet access or the bucks to keep up our computers when they went frozzy...

Now I know that it was something else, too.

I'm not superman any more.

IT appears that I will be sleeping like a normal person, 7-9 hours a night. Those 2200 hundred extra hours per year are probably gone forever.

I'll have to prioritize my projects a bit differently, perhaps giving up some of the things I love to do, or doing less of all of them.

I've already quit spending time booking myself and the band, which has resulted in playing live a lot less. Maybe I need to find a booking agent - but that takes time, too.

Finding more volunteers to mix and edit SOUTH BY DUE EAST would help.

Finding sponsorship for our projects would help afford assistance/employees, but that takes time to find and manage, too. Something's gotta give, and I don't know what it is (do I, Mr. Jones).

I'll keep you posted...
