We're back in the saddle again.

I'm about to leave the Houston area with The New Jack Hippies for the first time in a long time. It's a short trip, to Austin and New Braunfels, with the only public appearance to be Saturday in New Braunfels, at Groove Dawg's By The River Bike rally. We're on a show with Bleu Edmonson, 1100 Springs, Opie Hendrix and a few more acts which I can't recall.

We've begun to play a bit more, with cool gigs at Houston Community College (a precursor to our Jazz Fest appearance there with Gloria Edwards in November), St. Pete's Dancing Marlin (while the cat was away), The Balinese Room in Galveston, and even a couple of fun nights with Heath Spencer Philip in LaPorte. The Houston Chronicle sent Martin Gaston to videotape us at The Dancing Marlin, so I guess that the article will come out soon.

It's good to get out of the studio. Sixty new songs and recordings are cool, and we DO get a charge out of that, but it's nothing like energy feeding back from a live audience. I love playing with the band.

Don't miss Sonny Boy Terry's CD release party with guest Sherman Robertson at The Continental Club on Sunday evening (6-10) - right after his Cactus Records in-store at 4pm.

Gotta go!

We're all gonna miss Johnny Cash. He was a talented and generous man.
