Vince Bell and I will play at Jovita's in Austin tonight. I've never been there, but Roger says it's a cool venue that he plays with The Sisters, and that I'll like it! The gig with Vince and Joe Lindley was great. Joe's still got it! You may remember him from Dogtooth Violet in the '70s. His collection of mandolins, dobros and ukeleles (and the way he played them) added great color to Vince's songs. I don't know if Vince and I will play duo, or if he has someone lined up to join us at Jovita's, but it'll be musical either way.
If you've never heard Vince Bell, you should. I have a lot of very musical friends, but Vince and his music are really special.
If you are an Austinite with some extra time today, consider giving me a call on Marlo's cell phone (832-439-9517). I should be in Austin early, with few particular plans before the gig, and nowhere lined up to stay the night (if I do stay the night).

We'll be playing at The Lookout in Surfside next week (May 22), and have been invited to play The Burlington Jazz & Blues Fest outside of Toronto, Ontario, Canada this summer. We've accepted, and we'll be there (if we don't have visa problems) the next-to-the-last weekend in July! If you play drums or keys and want to go to Canada with Roger, Pat, Jerald, Marlo and me, let us know. Chaz & Andy can go for the fest week, but may not be able to make it if we get any type of extended tour for a week or three, due to previous commitments.
