This week really flew by. Lot's of hard work editing the TV serires and finalizing the art for all five CDs.
But - I get to go play at Anderson Fair tonight (Friday) with Vince Bell and Joe Lindley.
Ahhh... that's better!
While the video editor has been busy doing hour-long renderings for the show, I've been working on the music. I've been listening to some of Vince's new songs, and picking out bass parts for them.
I've also been choosing Blaze Foley songs to perform with The New Jack Hippies in Austin on Sunday evening at the big CD Release party at Ruta Maya. Our thanks to Lost John Casner for including us in this special event. We all loved Blaze, as well as his music. We play at 9:20pm, right after Gurf Morlix, who put together this new Blaze Foley CD called OVAL ROOM. We even had a rare rehearsal, and recorded a great garage version of IF I COULD ONLY FLY.
Immersing myself into both Vince and Blaze's songs this week, has really put me in awe of the incredible talent that some of my friends have/had.
Marlo & I've each heard a lot of singer/songwriters and their songs in our day, but both of these guys are/were special. These songs and lyrics hold up after hundreds of listens.
That's enough to keep even ME a little humble.
