I'm in decompression. Not much computer exposure today. Not quite
rational or coherent yet.

So watching TV is the perfect pastime for the day.

Watching a special on the history of Corvettes and Mustangs.

They feature a married couple who own multiple 'Vettes. They said the
passion fueled the obsession.

Sounds familiar.

I REALLY like the '05 Mustangs. WHEN I win the Lotto (like yesterday
WASN'T the fleeking Lotto!), I want a new Mustang. AND a new Corvette.

What the hell: new cars all around!

Anyway, I eventually put together the U2 connection. Ya know - Fast
Cars. It was the passion/obsession thing that made the Vertiginous
cloud of fragmentation part enough to make the connection.

You've seen last night's dress-rehearsal set list by now, if you're
gonna follow this one closely. There are NO spoilers in THIS post,
however. I'll do that later maybe. This is going a different
direction.

It seems SUCH a casual thing to encounter a member of the band.
Especially in LA LA. I only like about 2% of the L.A. U2 "fans". And
most of THEM drive in from outside the city.

In 20+ years, I haven't met any member of the band or their crew or
management. Until a few years ago, I wouldn't have recognized even Paul
McG, much less their families or friends. Such is the internet. I also
don't really care. I'm an obsessive fan, I freely admit, but my
obsession lies in the music and what that music has done for/to me and
my soul. The rest is sorta like collateral damage, if you get my
meaning.

Like my brain today. Damaged by vertiginous elevation. I had to slip
that word in again. It could return yet again.

For I got to shake the hand of the B-Man. Holy Shiznit! I was, and
still AM, totally blown out. It's hard to convey the feeling when you
meet one of your Icons. Not an idol. Not a hero. Those mean something
totally different. I met one of the humans who's art and life have
touched me and changed me in the most profound of ways. It transcends
fandom. It transcends idolatry. It transcends heroism.

It's even more essential. It's a soul thing. And there was nothing
casual about it to me.

Does that make me a freak? COOL!

And last night's free concert was one of the highlights of MY year, to
be certain. But it was the sprinkles on the ice cream cone.

A unique experience. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Hell YES!

And I'm blessed, truly BLESSED, to have been among those few folk. And
very, very grateful to the Boys for making it happen.

THANKS GUYS! THANKS to all the crew, too! And all the cops, firemen,
security and maintenance folks that helped make it possible, too. It
took every single one of 'em to pull it off. I cannot thank them all
enough. I tried when we were there, though. I thanked everybody I saw
. . .

But it was still just the frosting on the cake.

'Coz I shook the hand of the B-Man!

WOO HOOOOOOO!

U2
RAWKS!
WOO HOO!
:o)

Ron
