Fun festival next week, great show for us and you!


July 08 Woody Guthrie Festival Preview w/
Terri Hendrix | Ronny Elliott | Karen Mal | Magpie
($15 Advance / $18 Door) - 8 PM

More than 50 acts will perform next week in the
8th annual Free Woody Guthrie Festival in Okemah OK.
These four are a sampling of the variety of musical
styles that you'll find there. We are closed next
week so that our volunteers and audience can attend
this folk music extravaganza. The festival exists
to further the music of Woody and to support the
works of the Huntington's Disease Foundation. Just
three hours away from Dallas, Okemah is the place
to be next week!

Terri Hendrix w/ Lloyd Maines - Her exuberance is
contagious! Terri's pop-folk songs are built on
insight and compassion framed with wit and
intelligence, and furnished with a passionate upbeat
persona. Lloyd is a masterful guitarist on 6 strings,
Dobro and pedal steel. Together they have become
Texas' hottest act and one of our very faves. Tonight
they anchor our show and will perform a full set.

Ronny Elliott - If his name is missing from your
household word list, just dig the musical conscience
of Steve Young. Recall Butch Hancock's straight
forwardness. Think of Woody's 'everyman's' outlook.
Play a Johnny Cash spiritual. Read Leonard Cohen's
prose. Remember Phil Ochs' protest songs. Now add
Ronny's name.

Karen Mal - A writer of superb contemporary folk
songs, Karen won the Wildflower Festival's National
Songwriter Competition and was a finalist in both the
Kerrville and the South Florida Fests New Folk
contests. With her lithe, lilting soprano, Karen is
also gaining recognition for her singing, which she
accompanies on mandolin and guitar. Along with her
contemporary works, Karen's repertoire includes
Celtic influenced originals.

Magpie - Over their 30 years of performing and 12+
albums, Terry and Greg are a cornerstone of the modern
folk music scene. While their stylings encompass jazz
& blues, Scots airs, ragtime, classical country, and
swing, Magpie's songs are deeply immersed in social
concerns of peace, justice, the environment, civil
rights and war. They've won 2 Wammies and have
recorded with Kim & Reggie Harris and with Pete Seeger.
