Hey all,

I got this message about 2 hours after I sent out the weekly
reminder, and though I don't do this very often, I thought
someone out there might be interested in spending some time
in a creative workshop with the one and only Sara Hickman, so
here is the press release (this event also includes a concert
with Sara , with beatlegras opening!):

Dallas, TX – September 20, 2005 – On October 8, fresh on the heels of an
overwhelming response to her 3-day “Living Life Creatively” workshop at The
Crossings in Austin, Sara Hickman will bring a 1-day version to Dallas for the
first time.

In 2001, Sara told Austin Chronicle music editor Margaret Moser that she had
gone to her church pastor and told him she wanted to become a minister. His
response was “You'd probably like that, but you're already being a minister.
You touch more people with your gifts from God than if you were doing what I do.
You're on the right path, keep doing what you do.”

The creative elf, musician, artist, producer, mom, and inexhaustible bon vivant
has not looked back since.

On October 8, in the Taubman Atrium at SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts, Sara
will take workshop participants on a journey of joy, helping them to release the
spark of insight and discover new methods of living creatively. They will learn
to weave storytelling, songwriting, art and “the gospel of making something
out of nothing” into their daily routine via writing, drawing, dancing,
talking, listening, noticing and games. “By learning to form new habits and
think creatively in new ways,” Sara says, “you can turn your life, your home
and your community into a wonderland of non-stop creative ka-pow!”

This is a unique opportunity to tap Sara's creative fuels and experience the joy
of living life more creatively, whether you make your living as an artist,
musician, bus driver or accountant.

At 7:00 p.m. the evening of Saturday, October 8, Sara will present a concert in
Caruth Auditorium on the SMU campus, joined by show opener beatlegras, three
very different, accomplished musicians in their own right, creating a new sound
from what some consider to be the greatest music ever written, recorded by the
greatest band of the 20th century,
The Beatles. Their musicianship alone is exceptional, but beatlegras’s
interpretations of the Beatles’ catalog are intriguingly innovative and classy
– and anything but corny or cliché.

The workshop will be presented from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The cost is $125,
including a light lunch served on site. SMU students, faculty & staff may
attend for $115.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. SMU students, faculty & staff,
$15.

Those who register for the workshop can buy a concert ticket for just $5.
