Nov 4 Karen Mal & Eric Hansen ($12) 8 PM

Karen

A writer of superb contemporary folk songs, Karen won the Wildflower Festival's
National Songwriter Competition and is a finalist in both the Kerrville and the
South Florida Fests New Folk contests. She's come on strong in recent years as
one of the finest of the many fine Austin songwriters. With her lithe, lilting
soprano, Karen is also gaining recognition for her singing and she's a superb
mandolin player, whether solo or as an accompanist. Along with her own
contemporary works, Karen's repertoire includes many great Celtic influenced
originals.

Eric

A writer/singer of folk-pop songs rich with thoughtful and inspirational
outlook, passion and humor, Eric keeps a busy life. In addition to touring as a
performer he teaches music to underprivileged children, is a TV soap opera and
stage actor, is a vocal coach and guitar teacher to private clients and has
recorded 5 CDs and 5 compilations. Eric has a shelf full of songwriting awards
from local and national entities such as Noel Paul Stookey's Music for Life and
Tucson and New York associations and was selected for Kerrville and Plowshares
songwriting competitions. What's more remarkable is the fact that he is
afflicted by congenital lung failure. But you'll not detect that in his warm
and dynamic voice and upbeat persona!
