Tim Grimm -

Wearing several "Year's Best of" crowns for "Folk
Album", "Folk Song" and "Songwriter" Tim is truly
one of Americana's finest songwriters (and a film
actor as well). Family roots are thematic in his
optimistic and evocative story songs of
remembrance and in his achingly beautiful romance
songs written with a gentle hand. Woody
Guthrie's spirit is evident in Tim's no-nonsense
edgy songs of social/political commentary, while
witty observations of daily life are recalled in
his down-home ruminations. In further comparison,
think of the honesty in the voices of Ray Wylie
Hubbard and Greg Brown. Tim will be bringing us
"Holding Up The World", his new CD, and we can't
wait to see what awards this one wins.

Jon Vezner -

This will be Jon's first Calvin's appearance and
we're already anticipating his future return.
He's an accomplished songwriter, having works
recorded by Reba McEntire, Clay Walker, Nanci
Griffith, John Mellencamp, Janis Ian, and his
wife, Kathy Mattea. Jon also has the trophies
for that work: a Grammy as well as many national
awards for both Song(s) of the Year and
Songwriter of the Year(s). With his unadorned
tenor that hints at a Minnesota heritage, Jon
croons while playing piano or guitar. His
leisurely paced songs are encouraging, sincere
and comforting, all while stirring deep emotion.
He writes and sings of life's situations, its
journey with family, friends and lovers and his
melodies are ageless. Come welcome him tonight
and let's plan for his return.

by Al Barlow - 2008: The Year of the Hat -
Typical weekend schedule subject to variations.
Arrive in Terlingua Friday afternoon, set up your
camp in Gareth Park or check into your room in a
nearby motel. There's plenty of room to camp in
the park and it is privately owned. Please
respect the landscape - Early Friday evening
there's an open mic or showcase down the road a
short distance at La Kiva, a great restaurant and
hangout on the banks of Terlingua Creek followed
by campfire pickin' at the campground that night.
Saturday night there's another showcase or open
mic at one of a couple other great local venues,
The historic Starlight Theater (very good food)
or the El Dorado (a cool newer place) followed
by all night campfire pickin' - Late Sunday
morning everybody gathers for the outdoor gospel
brunch (open mic) at the nearby Hungry Javelina
where they have great coffee and breakfast tacos
(walk up and order at the window). There is
usually another open mic Sunday afternoon
somewhere.
