Sin City Social Club Maria's Tacos 9/22/05

From the people that bring you the star-studded SXSW day parties at
Maria's Taco Express comes a pre ACL party that promises lots of
surprises! The Sin City Social Club is an LA institution which is
expanding to include Tuscon, Nashville and now Austin. Join us at
the first annual Austin Sin City Social Club, the kickoff for a
monthly party featuring roots-rockin' house band Grub Dog and
Friends and hosted by 101X's Morning Mike.

Founded by Gram Parson's daughter, Polly Parsons, the Sin City
Social Club has a format that honors Gram's pioneering cosmic cowboy
style by covering songs in and around this distinctive genre of
music. Guest stars -from rock to alt.country- step in front of the
house band each month to do their take on outlaw covers along with
exciting original material. It's a hootenanny and a star-studded
open mic rolled into one!

The first Sin City Social Club happens

Thursday (September 22)
at Maria's Taco Express
2529 South Lamar
Beginning at 4:PM and lasting all night

Joining Grub Dog and Friends will be house band and guest stars of
the original popular Sin City Social Club who continue to perform
monthly at the The Mint in Los Angeles. Merle Jagger, West Coast
Grand, Dead Rock West, and Dave Phenicle (formerly of Lazy Stars and
Shurman) are taking Sin City on the road for this late summer tour.
Don't miss this special night of West Coast talent. You never know
who else will stop in considering its proximity to the Austin City
Limits Music Festival.

Austin house band Grub Dog and Friends include Grub Dog Mitchell on
drums, Doug Walseth (of Crawling with Kings) on lead guitar, Pete
McPherson (the Modestos) on rhythm guitar and vocals and the
talented Dave Ray on Bass. Each month will feature guest stars from
Austin as well as special talents who are coming through town on
tour. Just like the LA Sin City, you never know who will sit in with
the house band on any given night!
