Hello all,
My name is Pat Wolfe and I host the show Medication on
KDHX in St. Louis. (88.1 FM) I have a contact at Artemis who has
sent me an advance copy of "Stone, Steel, Bright Lights"--the new
Jay Farrar live album that he recorded during his tour of the
midwest/east coast last September and October.(I attended the show
at the Pageant in St. Louis 9-27-03) The D.C. area band Canyon
backed him for the tour, and on June 8th this set of 19 songs hits
the stores (including 2 new songs "Doesn't Have To Be This Way"
and "6-String"...something--forgot the title, I'm at work) and 2
covers: "Lucifer Sam"(old Pink Floyd, written by Syd Barrett)
and "Like a Hurricane"(Neil Young). I have listened to the album 3
times, and it is incredible. He sounds so damn good live, it's not
even funny. The CD also comes with a DVD of 11 songs recorded at
Slims in San Francisco (I haven't watched it yet, been busy) So I
would say this album is definitely worth the purchase price. Anyhow,
my whole point to this post is that I will be playing all 4 of the
new songs plus 2 others on my show this Monday the 31st (Memorial
Day in the U.S.). The show starts at Noon Central time (5PM GMT) and
can be heard in St. Louis on 88.1 FM. Outside of St. Louis the show
is available through the station's website, www.KDHX.ORG (streaming
audio)Be one of the first to hear cuts from this great album! Hope
you tune in!
