Oh, what bad timing! I'm from Charlotte, NC but moved to Italy 6 months ago.
Shawn is playing in SC 4 days before I'm home for a visit in November. Maybe
there will be a Charlotte show added? A girl can hope.

Fur and Feather (http://www.furandfeather.org) animal shelter (the
only animal shelter in all of Catron County, New Mexico- where I
live) recently rescued Ella, a three-legged dog now down to only two
working legs.
Ella is a very affectionate female shephard mix who got hit by a car
four years ago, resulting in a broken leg. She lived in a poverty-
stricken abusive home, and her owner would not even take Ella to the
vet. Luckily her owner's boyfriend was responsible and took her to
the vet where her leg had to be amputated. He also paid for her to
get spayed.
Fur and Feather first heard about Ella little more than a week ago
when concerned citizens informed them that Ella had again been hit by
a car and was limping around on only two legs.
Ella's owner had again refused to take her to the vet, and would not
turn Ella over to the shelter. With the help of the Catron County
Sherriff (and the threat of animal cruelty charges) Ella's owner
turned her over to the care of Fur and Feather.
Ella's leg was so badly broken that she needed the help of
specialty veterinarian surgeons in Albuquerque. Her surgery was
completed yesterday, Friday April 4. Ella's injury was much older
than what had been told to Fur and Feather. Instead of a week or two
old, it was more like a month as indicated by all the scar tissue.
Ella will need physical therapy, and just the cost of her surgery is
more than Fur and Feather can cover. Please help Ella get the care
she needs and donate to Fur and Feather. They are the only shelter
in the county, and they get very little community support since it's
a poverty-stricken area.
You can donate online through Paypal, or mail to:
Fur and Feather Animal Assistance, Inc.
PO Box 519
Datil, NM 87821
If you have any questions or want an update on Ella, please call Jay
Senych at 575-772-5800 or 575-772-5615, or Laurie Beauchamp at 575-
772-2661. They are the founders/operators of Fur and Feather.
Even if you can only donate a $1 it will still make a huge difference!
And I also set Fur and Feather up on www.goodsearch.com. They should
be added to the list in a few days. Look for Fur and Feather Animal
Assistance, Inc. Every time you search on goodsearch and list Fur
and Feather as a charity they will get money! The ASPCA alone has
received more than $13,000 through goodsearch.com.
Thank you in advance for your help Please forward this message onto

Tell us what your two favorite Shawn songs are...and why they are your
favorites. Maybe you feel the words in your spirit...maybe you met your
significant other while hearing the song. Maybe you and the special one
always do the Horizontal Bop to a certain song. Maybe it makes you

Well...I suggested this, and now I'm learning that it's nearly
impossible to choose only two favorites!
I will choose "Twin Rocks Oregon" , as my number two favorite. It's the
simple story of two guys...strangers, meeting, and bonding because they
are both doing exactly what they want to do in life, while they try to
figure out who they are. In this song, he grabs my attention from the
first line and doesn't let go of it until the end of it. My favorite
line...."He saw me lost and he saw me found. I don't know what I been
lookin for...maybe me"
My all time number one favorite, will probably always be, "Lullaby". I
love the beat of this song, and the words make me laugh, make me see
myself, make me think, and make me sad all at once. I can feel this
girl's sadness and frustration at her unfullfilled dreams and desires,
and his attempt to make her feel better. My favorite line..."I told her
I ain't so sure about this place. It's hard to play a gig here and keep
a straight face. It seems everybody's got a plan. Kinda like
Nashville...with a tan".
"Lullaby" was the very first song I ever heard Shawn do. It confused me
and intrigued me, so much that I called the radio station and asked who
that was that they just played that sounded like Jack Nicholson singing.
The DJ got a big kick outta that...lol

My favorite two are Canyons and Cravens and My Ship (Two Choices),
because I love the line "cause it's the truth you know, that gets you
by, its not who, or what you know, its why", I always see the truth
in that line.

I love Hawksong because of the simplicity and visual imagery. It
always takes me back to my summers doing raptor surveys in the
Rockies.
My Ship (Two Choices) is a great F&*@ you song. People are always
trying to change one another, and you have to take a stand sometimes
and say "this is who I am and you can take it or leave it."

There was a story in the newspaper, about a female humpback whale who
had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines. She was
weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle
to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped
around her body-her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth.
A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farralone Islands (outside
the Golden Gate) and radioed an environmental group for help. Within a
few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad
off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her-a very
dangerous proposition. One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer. They
worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her.
When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous
circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and
nudged them, pushed them gently around-she thanked them. Some said it
was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives. The guy who
cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following him the whole
time, and he will never be the same.
May you, and all those you love, be so blessed and fortunate----to be
surrounded by people who will help you get untangled from the things
that are binding you. And, may you always know the joy of giving and
receiving gratitude.
