Most Versatile Instrument of Music
by KeithLancaster on Wed 06 Sep 2006 04:14 PM CDT
For almost twenty five years, our favorite truism has been:

"We believe the human voice is the greatest instrument of music ever
created."

The human voice conveys so many different emotions and is
unbelievably versatile. In mimicking instruments, Acappella has
journeyed through many styles and imitated a multitude of sounds.
We could site numerous examples, including the most recent
album, "Radiance," which begins with the emulation of a didgeridoo.

A few years back, Acappella, along with their back-up singers,
simulated the THX intro, commonplace in modern movies. It was
astounding to hear - just as Zac's vocal percussion solo elicits
an "I can't believe I'm hearing this" response.

Check out this choir that was assembled for this Honda Civic film in
the United Kingdom. It is fascinating!

Utah 's Best A cappella Groups on stage for one night!

Featuring: Voice Male, T Minus 5, and The Cadillacs.

Thanksgiving Point Amphitheater- September 29th 2006 7:00 pm.  One night! One concert! No instrument? A Cappella at the Point will be an evening of diverse music, only from the mouth.

Over the past 12 years, Voice Male's dynamic six-member group has established itself as a permanent fixture on the a cappella circuit.   Along the way, they've performed for most every audience imaginable-from singing at intimate gatherings and private birthday parties to serving as headliners at major venues and corporate events.   In any case, the message is clear…Voice Male always makes a lasting impression.

Legends on the a cappella scene, The Cadillacs, a doo-wop quintet wows audiences with its alluring harmonies, rich choruses and thundering lead vocals on a range of standard pop hits from the 50s and the 60s.   Going full throttle on classics like "you've Lost That Lovin' Felling," The Cadillacs have a distinct knack for making every song their own-taking fans both old and new for a wild ride along the way.

As a nationally-acclaimed and regional award-winning a cappella group, T Minus 5 is known for delivering a high-energy musical p erformance that combines contemporary pop, golden oldies, classic rock, a bit of country, and even elements of comedy.   T Minus 5 promises a musical adventure that magically defies the limits of the human voice.   Audiences agree, T Minus 5 is one high-energy performance that's guaranteed to leave you wanting more.

Tickets available at the Thanksgiving Point Box Office, Monday through Saturday 10 am to 6 pm, or at any Ticketmaster outlet, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 801.325.SEAT. Ticketmaster purchase is subject to service charge.

Thanksgiving Point is 20 minutes south of Salt Lake City and 15 minutes north of Provo on Interstate 15 in Central Utah. To reach Thanksgiving Point, take exit 284 off I-15 and head west to Thanksgiving Point. Follow the signage along Clubhouse Drive to the Waterfall Amphitheater.

2 Male Vocalists Wanted: Paid Positions ASAP
Contact:  booking@...  1-888-GO-2-JUPE

Blue Jupiter, a professional, internationally touring a cappella group based in New York City announces immediate openings for (1) Tenor and (1) Bass vocalist.

Male Tenor Vocalist:  Age 22-32
This position is not about high notes; it’s about skills and personality. You are charismatic, funny, and personable onstage and off.  You have kung-fu master level musical skills as both a pop soloist and a back-up. You learn challenging, dissonant musical parts with deadly accuracy and without breaking a sweat. You bring passion, creativity, flexibility and constantly positive energy not only to shows, but also to rehearsals, travel, mundane tasks like equipment set-up and data entry and shared down-time. Arranging, composing, theory, vocal percussion, sight-reading, invisibility and heat vision all pluses, but not required.

Male Bass Vocalist:  Age 22-32
Range ideally extends below a low D, but smaller ranges will be considered.  You have outstanding rhythm and groove, some vocal percussion skills, and command of basic theory.  You are the bass in a pop/rock band. Must have the same positive energy and musical skills required of the Tenor Position, however though invisibility is optional, heat vision is required. Please be prepared to demonstrate at auditions.

Applicants can email Blue Jupiter at booking@... or call 1-888-GO-2-JUPE
Please send a bio or resume, photo, audio samples, and any video clips you may have, ASAP.

Blue Jupiter Bio:
Blue Jupiter continues to redefine popular music, combining their a cappella influences of beatbox and harmony with edgy pop arrangements and high energy performances. This year Blue Jupiter has appeared on VH1’s Save the Music, Oprah, and several charity events- including the American Cancer Society, The Red Cross, Braking the Cycle, and others. The group expanded their international notoriety after winning the “Oreo and Milk Jingle Contest” hosted by American Idol Judge Randy Jackson. After winning “Audience Favorite” and “Best Arrangement” at the Harmony Sweepstakes two years in a row and returning from an international tour to Hong Kong, Blue Jupiter is excited to continue building their reputation as “one of the most exciting, entertaining vocal bands in the country.”

The summit supports innovators, vocalists who stretch the boundaries
of what the human voice is capable of.

It is a place of community where singers not only produce stunning
vocal creations, but we also show each other just how the magic works.

The summits showcase pop, soul, barbershop, doo-wop, R&B, hard rock,
new age, funk, comedy, world music, punk and nearly anything else you
might think of. There's nothing we love better than the challenge:
"You can't do THAT a cappella." Oh yeah? We'll see about that.

At the summit, we laugh, we commiserate over our shared problems, we
poke gentle fun at one another and we explore that powerful, sometimes
even spiritual experience of creating something infinitely greater
than the sum of its parts, the very definition of true harmony.

The East Coast A Cappella Summit is sponsored by the Contemporary A
Cappella Society (CASA) with generous support from our kind donors.

sample at www.timothyoung.com). A Cappellastock is Saturday Aug 25th,
and while moosebutter is not performing, Tim will be singing with some
other friends of his before the show, and there is a lot of great
music happening - www.acs07.com for details.

Fourth, moosebutter's hesitant cousins the Plumbers of Rome
(www.plumbersofrome.com) are performing Monday Aug 27 at 7 pm in
Denver, CO - see Tim, with yet other friends, rocking some
post-moosebutter weirdness. Also on the program is The 17th Avenue
All-Stars (www.17thavenueallstars.com). $10 cover, great show. Full

Hello Everyone!  We are about to begin another great year at BYU and that of course means Noteworthy Auditions!

We have 3 openings this year.  We encourage everyone to come and tryout, but we are specifically looking for low voices (basses), high voices (sopranos), and vocal percussionists (that includes anyone interested in learning).

Auditions will be held on the evening of Thursday, September 6th beginning at 7pm in room E-400 in the Harris Fine Arts Center on the BYU campus.  There will be a sign-up sheet outside of E-400 beginning at noon that day.

Attached is more information on audition requirements, etc.  Check it out, and tell anyone and everyone you know that might be interested in trying out.

Contact us at noteworthy@... with any questions, and keep your eye on our website, www.noteworthyladies.com, for any time/location changes.

We look forward to seeing you on the 6th!  We are very excited for this coming year.  We are always amazed at the talent here at BYU.

Thanks and good luck!

I present to all http://MyAcaProducer.com/. There is an obvious gap
between those who know who to go to when making a CD, and those who
don't. Usually groups just find whomever they know through word of
mouth to make their CD happen or they just decide to record with
Garage band only to find severe disappointment. I want to help fix
this so I have provided a database of sort for those who provided
services for making an a cappella CD.

Hence, http://MyAcaProducer.com/. I have contacted every active
service provider I could and gave them access to update their profile.
If I have not contacted you and you wish to have a profile, simply
email: info@....

Now I need all who have received an email or who have a profile (or
want one) to keep their profiles up to date. I am also calling on all
to review the service provided and give feedback, feature requests,
etc and tell me your ideas.

My goal is to completely improve the sound of the recorded a cappella
CD. I want all to have the tools at their fingertips and to see what a
truly produced A Cappella CD can be and know what it takes to make it
happen, thus removing the "we didn't know how" problem.

For those interested, I am looking for a team to help write articles,
get interviews, and provide actual content to help those desiring to
record an a cappella CD. If you're not interested, please provide
suggestions and feedback to help improve this resource.

In the coming months I will be adding profile reviews, so that
experiences with certain individuals can be shared. Worry not those
with profiles, all reviews will be moderated; I do not intend my site
to become a flamer's haven. I wish, however, for others to share their
experiences so we can all learn and improve the way in which a
cappella is recorded.

I also want articles to help groups avoid pitfalls that are commonly
found. If you have a recording experience, PLEASE send it in. Let us
stop the continual mistakes and improve the quality of recorded a
cappella.

So I hope you all have some good suggestions. Go ahead and send them
to info@.... I appreciate the help. Let me know what you
think!

Hey all,
My aca group (Coalescence) has died. :( Sad. Because of this group I
have also begun doing live sound. As such I have 4 Mackie 450s. I need
to unload these because a baby is on the way!

So I am selling a pair for $1,200. That's 2 Mackie powered PA speakers
for 1,200.

They also come with Bags and Stands! These retail for $800 a piece
usually.

We're expecting our first kid and I can't stay in the live a cappella
scene anymore.

Let me know if you're interested please!

(I also have a Mackie Quad EQ that I am selling for 600 OBO, and it's
seen like 3 uses)

All the best,

American Fork, Utah - Phoenix Rising seeks experienced singers.

If applicable, please send brief information about solo experience
and any instruments played proficiently.
